- Oko Amakom, a riverine and an agrarian community with seasonal road that produces some of the food items being consumed in Abuja and other parts of the country, temporarily became the headquarters of Oshimili South local government Council on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, when the who is who from all works of life, including the political class, captains of industries, business moguls, the elites, the media, clergy, security managers, traditional institutions, market men and women, across the state, converged to witness the commissioning of what the Council Chairman, Dr Kelvin Ezenyili described as a watershed in the chronicles of the council, which are the ultra modern Oko event center, the flagoff of the fifty million naira empowerment program for 500 persons and the distribution of the 220 bags of rice to the wards in Oshimili South, based on the needs assessment of the people.
In her address, the wife of the GOVERNOR AND FOUNDER OF "YO
U MATTER CHARITY FOUNDATION" during the THE INAUGURATION, DEACONESS TOBORE OBOREVWORI, thanked the council chairman for keying into the MORE work plans of her husband, Elder Sheriff Frances Oborowori, describing the akuluno Eko legacy Project as thoughtful.
The first lady of the state urged the end users of the project to take ownership of the facilities by preserving it so the purpose was not defeated.
Barr Bridget Anyafulu, member representing Oshimili South in her good will message appealed to consider building a secondary school that will serve the entire Oko Clan as a necessity to the people, so the risk of crossing the River niger, using canoe in search of secondary education in the neigboring anambra state would be reduced.
There were good will messages from the fmr council chairman, Barr Greatman Chuka, the PDP Oshimili South and Comr Sylvester Ngugu.
The icing on the cake was a conferment of an Ikemba Oko n'ine title to a worthy and illustrious son of the soil, a purposeful performer and achiever yet humble, who doesn't miss targets as far as good governance is concerned.
The Ikemba of Oko and Asaba, who has demystified leadership, came to power prepared and has been using his position for the common good of his people.
No wonder his second coming as chairman was a walk over because he proved his mettles.
Indeed, better days await Ndi Oshimili South.
