This place looks like the mine near Ivel Ky. I grew up in Pike County and I knew I was looking at eastern Kentucky hills in the background. Good to see someone taking an interest in the trucks we watched roll up and down 23 for many many years.
Can you imagine one of those Mack’s pulling a low boy with an older D-9 on it. That’s a bucket list thing for me. My kin live in Barbourville down by the GAP, prettiest country there is to me anyway. 👍🇺🇸
For those of you who are wondering why the dump beds are so deep on coal trucks, it's because of weight. Coal is extremely light weight compared to stone or dirt. You can carry a much larger volume of coal before you get into weight restrictions.
I rode a DM 800 all over down yander, my kin live in Barbourville so we hauled all over SE Ky. Love those Mack’s and those mountains with all my heart.
Save the old stuff, parts ain't being made anymore and getting to be worth gold in prices. Scrap the new junk. That Dm800 caught my eye I love those Brute Macks. Like the 70s Western stars & Autocars absolutely beasts.
*YES ... THIS TRUCKS ARE JUST "TO THE JUNK YARD" NOTHING ELSE* *THE YELLOW "MONSTERS" ARE **#MONEY** .. WORKS 1000 YEARS* *BUT AS HE SAY "JUST LEFT THERE" SO IT IS **#FREE** ...* *JUST GET ..."ALL WHAT IS YELLOW" ... SELL THE PARTS "MANY" 1000 U.S.D*
Those rolled over miles at a million and started over probably more like a 1.3 million mile truck and off road trucks like that.....hard hard miles bouncing and slamming hauling 50 ton plus
Wait they shut down Ivel?! Awww I’ll miss the old tipple My papa worked there a couple years back and I sat in the cab with him while he ran an excavator to kinda shove the coal around
I doubt their “blown up” No doubt they’ve had parts taken off, for example the tyre, tail shaft ect. Could have been needed to quick fix one of the other working trucks that were in use. By looking at the Mack it looks to be used as a parts vehicle 🤷🏽♂️
Content is interesting but relax a little. The camera whipping around so quick makes it hard to look at anything and the jumping back & forth, going up to something but not really looking at it gets old quick.
Probably stupid shit wrong with those machines like you said towards the end they run it till it breaks and then leave it usually a pump or axle or transmission something repairs cost more then it's worth at the moment. Bet most of those would run
I grew up across from those hills in Ohio right across the river and I remember seeing plenty of those macks grew up close to one of the depots they've just about killed the coal mining industry like they did steel in the 70s
Most likely you will have to deal with a Federal Bankruptcy Judge, and probably have to make a package deal to buy not only that particular Mack, you are interested in, but any other trucks, and other power equipment that is bundled together. It won't be cheap. Lots of Debtors to pay off. Good Luck.
*NO I THINK "THE PIGS" (OWNERS) .. DONT WANT TO **#PAY** ..* *FOR "CLEANING UP" ALL THE "SHIT" THEY HAVE PUT "IN" THE **#GROUND** .* *IS THE "SAME" EVERYWHERE ... AND THEY ARE **#PIGS** .. What a junkyard. I know they're bankrupt, but thay still need to be sued for site cleanup costs. We have a similar problem here in Louisiana with oil companies, they take all the low fruit, and leave a mess.
They actually have to pay a reclamation tax for abandoned mine sites when they are in operation, that was what Hillary thought they could use as funding for retraining coal miners after they put coal to an end🙄 yeah let's take money to clean the earth up after bankruptcy happens for green retraining for the dirty coal miners😂
They set like these for years because their is still coal to be got but until they can either get permits or can sell it for a certain price they just "idle" the mine

I was thinking same thing
Both macs are worth restoring if you dont want them tell me where they are ill have them
In would absolutely love to buy one of those old rd’s and fix it up as a tribute to my ancestors who mined in those mountains for generations.
Can you imagine one of those Mack’s pulling a low boy with an older D-9 on it. That’s a bucket list thing for me. My kin live in Barbourville down by the GAP, prettiest country there is to me anyway. 👍🇺🇸

Can't believe they have/had rail service. Great video!
Save the old stuff, parts ain't being made anymore and getting to be worth gold in prices. Scrap the new junk. That Dm800 caught my eye I love those Brute Macks. Like the 70s Western stars & Autocars absolutely beasts.
Those old Rd’s were tough trucks. That has the old camel back suspension. Hope you get it running.
Interesting video. No face time which is a good thing. Looking forward to more.
Wow looking at these I want to fire up my big welder and start repairing these beds. When I get done they would look beautiful again.
I can remember a time in east ky when the 800 Mack was king!
Hell yeh, I rode em with my cousins for years till the coal business ran out. Nothing tougher than a DM no prettier country either. 👍🇺🇸
I hope I'm not the only one who thought, "Hey - that quad is pretty nice. Why'd they leave that? Wow! Another one!" Haha.
