  • Raised a boy, Chloe led a very turbulent life - in addition to a tough environment at home, she also found herself running with a tough crowd and getting into trouble. She would eventually leave that environment and, following the birth of her son, turn her own life around - returning to school, getting her dream job, and living her life openly.

Four times since I transitioned, in June 2016, my gender has been questioned by children - all were boys age 4 to 9. "Are you a boy or a girl?" is not an easy question to answer for a kid that young. They aren't going to comprehend the plain truth, that I was born a boy but decided that I needed to become a girl later on. "I'm a girl, I just have a deep voice", seems to be the easiest way to answer the question, until they get old enough to understand the full transgender story.

"I'm a woman with a really cool voice." OMG!!!! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!!! See? THIS is how you talk to kids. People always fret about "How do I explain this to my CHILD???" (as if their child has somehow become my responsibility because I exist.) Well, the way you explain something to a child is -- simply, light-hearted, and with humor! Duh! :)

I've always loved doing voices, and funny enough when I started transitioning I found out real fast how hard it is to train your voice to be more feminine. Even though I always present with this new feminine voice I've trained myself with, and am still training with, I still like to do voices.
I wanted to be a voice actor as a teen, and when you're a kid you think that to be a voice actor you should practice all of your impressions which is just flat out wrong, but anyway here I am as this very fem looking and sounding person that loves to switch to sounding like Alan Rickman, rest in power, on a dime.
When I hear masculine sounding people doing their impression of the emperor from Star Wars, they never quite get it right. The actor who played the role, same guy in every single movie by the way. In the first trilogy he was a young man with a ton of makeup on. He would push the breath with his stomach, it was a very traditional method of breathing originating in Kabuki theater, and well I love showing people how it's done. They always looked shocked to see that sound come out of my mouth.
Using my ability to sound very very masculine creates a lot of those moments of levity and humor. It shows people many things about me. My sense of humor, my knowledge, my capabilities, and my humanity.
Anyway this was all poorly/lazily written so good luck coherently reading this.

@@tiffanyhardy6965 She found a great way to talk to her kid in a way that the kid would get easily. Kudos to her. That's the only commonsense reaction to this story.
