I run a small community garden which specialises in being accessible to all. I have been toying with a yard tractor. I recently purchased an older mobility scooter and am adding a small roof to it so it can be used to multiply the abilities of some who are less able to carry loads in a wheelbarrow. Great video.❤
Thanks for posting. Everyone thought I was INSANE for planning to do this. Glad to see someone else beat me to it 3 years ago to give me inspiration. The specs looked similar and both are built for ruggedness..with the surge in farm equipment prices, this seems to be the absolute smartest way to go... if you want to even take it farther, it seems like you can upgrade it to do more than other equipment that can cost several thousands.
You can do it! These are great little runabouts for farm or for fun, and you can make them for a lot less than an ATV. Please send pictures when you are done!
I have an old club cadet that i removed the deck from and use it for hauling a small trailer around the property. To keep it from lifting up I hung 2 heavy brake Rotors up front.
had an old craftsman mower, no deck, pulled a john deere 4020 up the lane to my neighbor's house when the clutch went out. one of their friends kept saying it was not possible, neighbor told him to just watch what my mower could do in 1st gear. my house is at the bottom of the hill. the guy was shocked that my mower pulled that big farm tractor from my yard up to my neighbor's house, and the motor NEVER strained. i even used it for pushing and pulling cars to get them under the chain hoist when the engines had to come out to be worked on/rebuilt. the motor on that mower? 12 HP briggs and stratton.
Those mowers can pull more than you think, i could fill that with stacked firewood level to the top and throw 20 or so big bags of soil on top and have no struggle aside from traction.
If you are going off grid and using a lawn/garden tractor in the woods I would suggest that the Tractor doesn't have anything less than a K46 transmission..
I was thinking about putting an alternator on my mower. I have a similar plow like that with the front receiver mount. So far i am on year 4 with it and it might be a little bent up but still functions.
It's on my list of mods. I want to install a 100 amp Alternator to what was the mower pulley and use that power to charge my new solar batteries when the sun is gone for more than a day or two. A dedicated 12 volt generator.
Wonderful! I found your video based on my desire to do this so I went online whether someone else did it already. What lawn tractor would you recommend for this? Geared or with the hydraulic clutch? Thanks and God bless!
A Geared tractor will work better than a hydro one. The transmission is a lot better on the manual ones. Enjoy your build! These are a lot of fun to make ad great for getting stuff done around the house.
ATV's are junk with too many moving parts and over engineered motor for doing basic labor duties. There's a reason air cooled motors were built for 50 plus years, low maintenance and great reliability! Thanks Erik. 73s
I have been using lawn tractors as yard tugs for a while. Thinking of swapping a small engine into a craftsman garden tractor next time. A bit more ergonomic for my six foot frame and maybe a bit stouter for towing.
Farpoint Farms I love it up there in the mountains. We went up on top of Grandfather mountain this morning. It was pretty windy, but felt good. It’s been hot and muggy where we live in SC
Erik .. I had to KEEP rewinding to 4:08 ,, I done thought you had Marvel Comic Superpowers or you got some kind of Mountain VooDoo shapeshifting skills 😂😂😂 It took me 4 times to figure out that was some good editing . Great video , beautiful scenery,, love the flag on the barn . Also nice job of keeping that little tractor alive and repurposing it for small jobs around the farm . We had one of those growing up , ,, it was me with a wheelbarrow 💪🏼💪🏼😂
Hi Eric, could you do, or have you done, a video on how you maintain your gravel surfaces? I recently acquired a slightly worn gravel driveway, and would love to hear your input. From what I can see in this video, you take good care of yours.
Lol ur awesome I've been doing the same on my completely wooden property with a Deere my father in law gave me. Better than an ATV never get hurt sending it
Awesome little video, and I am sure that is very helpful around the farm....but did I see 4 GTI wheels in the background at 1:11 you have plans and are not sharing. lol
So on one of your previous videos I saw where u had several craftsman sleeve hitches my question is do u still have some and would u be interested in selling one and how much
I've already used two of them for these latest projects, and I want to hang onto the last one for future stuff. I'd keep an eye out for end of summer clearance sales.

That is awesome! I would not have thought of that, but it is a great idea-

old school guys like me have been doing that for years especially on a farm or small homestead... I only see one thing missing is a CB radio...
It's on the list!
heck ya!
This is a stupid channel and now I’m dumber for watching it. Never how etc.
Just a bunch of I painted something and filmed myself riding it.
i cant tell if the mower is incredibly small or if this guy is just an absolute titan, but the video was good!
Not a Titan- this is a tiny mower
I have an old club cadet that i removed the deck from and use it for hauling a small trailer around the property. To keep it from lifting up I hung 2 heavy brake Rotors up front.
It's not dumb if it works. That is a great idea to use what you have

Its all about the gear ratios

I love mine! It's a work horse for sure. The bed needs to be rebuilt, but other than that, it's a winner.
Awesome,my son has an old Yardman rider he got for free he has a trailer for it and uses it to haul firewood up from the bushlot.
If you are going off grid and using a lawn/garden tractor in the woods I would suggest that the Tractor doesn't have anything less than a K46 transmission..
Agreed. The larger GT we have is a K66 with the locking diff. It works the property well.
Excellent idea of the mower drive spinning a couple alternators for emergency backup power. Hmmmm....
Doing some work today. Hooking up to a trailer moving in 100ft and unhooking trailer. All in a hard days work
i pull around our 16ft dual axle with my 12.5 horse craftsman from the hosue to the woods all the time to take dead limbs and stuff back
Aren't these things great?
I like it great video love watching these videos on the weekend gives me inspiration
Glad you like them!

Thank you for your answer. Very helpful. od bless!
Used a old snapper to tow around airstream trailers in our yard at the shop.
Awsome. Just got a little craftsman tractor. Hope to add a front end bucket like yours. Great videos. Thanks for doing this.
Good luck!

A real Craftsman GT is way better for this type of work than the little mower I have here for sure!
you know if i had one of those cool little tractors to drive around on, my wife wouldnt be able to get me off it hahaha :D loooks way too much fun :D
They are really fun, and super useful. Not to mention it's just kind of fun to make them.
I've got a stroker crank & cam for that series engine . .060 piston probably add 20 hp.
Screamer!
When your vidio is running and your driving the noise will go unnoticed.
It’s a fine day in the mountains of North Carolina! We are on vacation in Boone
Only about an hour from here!

Hydrostatic drive on the rear? I've got a 23HP JD that the deck rotted away on. Might be able to reuse it in a similar scenario.
This one is a 5 speed manual, but Hydro units would make for great MUTTs too!

We have a JD235 with a trailer that bin hooked up so long i dont think i could git em apart if i tried

Ah yes, the Magic of video editing. A lot of cussing and mistakes get "Fixed" that way.

I have a agri-fab back blade, but I've never made a video for it. I'll see what I can do!
Lol ur awesome I've been doing the same on my completely wooden property with a Deere my father in law gave me. Better than an ATV never get hurt sending it
great minds think alike
Im working on a tractor using a mower
Sounds like an awesome idea. Make it your own
@@FarpointFarms I'm gonna make a loader and maybe a 3 or one point hitch, and maybe even put dualls.
Very smart idea.
Thank you!
"eh! Needs an engine swap. Throw in a 454 LS6. :-)
I think the frame would be crushed under the weight!
@@FarpointFarms Just reinforce it. :-)
That's pretty cool 👍😊
Any other idea for my tractor?
I want to see someone make a MUTT that can go in the water!!
What is that clunking noise?
I thank I can the little mower that could
Choo choo
Was wondering same thing . Maybe a belt ?
Sounded like a bad ball joint, be carefull.
I sure miss your GT6000...
But, Mutt-2 does the job!
Me too!
Great flag!
Thanks man!
How is the weather today
Rain, it's always raining here.
Awesome little video, and I am sure that is very helpful around the farm....but did I see 4 GTI wheels in the background at 1:11 you have plans and are not sharing. lol
You are correct! I haven't had time to clean them up and get them mounted, but they are destined for the VW truck.
@@FarpointFarms Awesome, glad you found a set...they will look sweet...
The noise is those retreads.
Dang, I must be deaf. I don't know what everyone is talking about.
Put a bigger pulley on the motor and double the speed lol I have one too positive traction, it runs 22mph in 5th gear
I have done that- I had one that I would pop wheelies on when I put in gear
Can you attach a seeder to it and a small cultivator?
You bet! That is what I use the sleeve hitch for. I have a cultivator that I used with it.
@@FarpointFarms I like to see a video of how to attach a sleeve hitch to a riding mower with various sleeve hitch implements. Thank you
@@sdfft820 Here you go! ruclips.net/video/uRP2kM-Y_Jc/видео.html
that's so cool. is this the MUTT hat received a tilting flat bed ?
Yup! I found this footage from a while back and decided to make a video of it.

I've got one of these things up to nearly 20. Its VERY VERY SCARY!

lol,,,nice,,,,,lets keep our money in our pockets....

Soon!
Big deal you can pull an empty trailer
