Back when family was everything, we weren't in a rush and had good family meals and knew each other, now we are on the go and to busy to see let alone have dinner with family. Our economy now makes supply over deman when we now can't afford fun, to relax or have a family with job and health security, but our middle class is almost gone, we can't afford leisure and the cost of a family, there just isn't affordable job security and working two jobs now to make ends meet. My parents as adults had it good back then
This happened because people let it happen. We elect those people in DC who decide our laws and make decisions about our economy. When Regan baited people with the lie about trickle-down economics and putting our pensions into Wall Street’s hands in a 401K so that we, too, could “get rich,” enough people agreed and it all came to pass. This is the result of men walking out on families and women entering the work force, creating such a populated employee pool that salaries went DOWN. It’s not rocket science, just greed.
Nonsense. There were plenty of families back then taking dinner to their rooms to watch TV, just as there are now. We have more leisure time than ever, and the overall standard of living has increased (financially speaking). I'm not saying that's "better" necessarily, but to say "our middle class is almost gone" is just silly.
