1974, and hardly any snow. Clearly shovelling snow to make a course! So even then already, snowfall was iffy. And this is Falun!

@LightSnowOvernight I remember this race very clearly. I was then nine years old. Some people said that the races should have cancelled because the snow was nowhere. Juha Mieto was at his element those days and later it was a disappointment he got only a silver medal 1974 Falun. I think Mieto was at his best the best in the world.

Yes, you remember it well. I know that Mieto started in December 1986 in World Cup 15 km freestyle race in Davos, maybe it was even his last World Cup race? So, for sure he was still active skier in 1986/1987. Afer this season he decided to retire

Hello, I found info that Mieto took 3rd place in his last Finnish Champs in 1989! He was almost 40 years old. There was an idea that he should join VM team for Lahti 1989, but he decided that he should give a chance for younger skiers
