Agreed! The only American bands w/o any bad outside influences I can think right of my head are Megadeth, Testament, Kamelot, and Symphony X. There are probably a few more though not too many.
Norifumi Shima reminds me of only one person, yngwei malmsteen. . Maybe not in this video but in other live concerts . ..

Metal in America has a mixture of hardcore punk, hip-hp(rap metal), and grunge which is bad for Metalheads, this guys is one of the band so called "real metal"
most of that is called hard rock more than metal
also thoe Metal is a genre made in US it was made real in Europe first time

@pilotamurorei Hehe, I know little about metal :P. In short, Nightwish is not power metal nor Neo classical (If you say you know metal). Helloween are indeed one of the best power metal bands but keep in mind that Japanese bands have some of the best Speed Melodic metal in the world, exp: X Japan, Loudness, Anthem, Saber Tiger ect.. I'm sorry mate but basing on your comment, seems like your drawn by the image of metal in scandinavia ;).

Sure Visual Kei musicians could be labeled posers but it is all stage act just like when Shima destroys his guitar. Versailles (Visual Kei) is one of the greats in Neo Classical metal.

It's better than metal i nthe US, but as good as Concerto Moon is, it's nowhere NEAR the level of true Neo Classical Power Metal like Nightwish. Hell, even recent Helloween makes alot of the Japanese artists look bad. You know so little about metal. I live in Japan and have seen alot of good bands here, but German or Scandanavian power metal is the best metal still around (and before you say it, Power metal was created because Iron maiden and Judas Priest)

@KabelMetalMedia Don't speak of Asians when it comes to Japanese musical achievements. Japanese metal is far ahead of the other asiatic nations and you can't belong to its monarchy and success. And yes, Japanese power, neo classical melodic metal is way better than its counterparts in europe or US.

If musicians never copied each other to some degree i doubt the music industry would be as big and successful as it is today.
+FRAN RIVERS actually, I don't think so - I'd say he has developed his own style and influenced from Blackmore. I like this dude over Malmsteen in any case.
+RoseOfHizaki Good point on the neo-classical issue. Besides, I don't think anyone learns entirely from a vacuum. Blackmore has had an influence on so many guitarists and in my case on keyboards so I'm told!!
