- Northern Lights in UK Skies
Last night the UK skies were lit up by the most amazing display of colour as the Aurora reached far and wide. I live 52Degrees North and saw it clearly from the Dark skies of Suffolk.
An absolutely amazing display and feel so honoured to have witnessed it.

I’m grateful I got to share that wonderful spectacle from our deck with my wife before cancer claims her. Thanks for sharing your video, it brought a warm smile to her face, cheers.
Glad you got experience too Woody especially with your wife. Sorry to hear she is so unwell. It was an amazing sight, a real experience
Love that Allsky capture, beautiful.
It really is! Thank you
Saw it in St Louis and we weren't expecting to see much of anything. It was amazing
I was shocked to see it too. My first time, loved it
Thanks for sharing this impressive event. We were also fotunate to view the display as it crept overhead to give a dazzling performance. Truly a night to remember.
Thank you so much. It really was an amazing sight and a great experience.
It was cloudy where I was so totally gutted, thank you so much for sharing, as always great work. Clear skies 🔭
Sorry to hear that, It was quite a sight.
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for sharing this.
My pleasure!
Very nice captures Glen, thank you for sharing.. Sadly missed the once in lifetime event apparently it was unbelievably bright here on South Coast, tried last night in a darker sky area but sadly nothing, however much to my wife's amusement I did lay down in a cow pat, a very stinky drive home at 3am 😂😂.. Atb Tom.
Thank you Tom. I was lucky to catch it. I was about to head off to bed when my laptop alerted me that guiding had gone astray on my rig outside and then I saw my last sub with a red cast all over it. Thinking something was up with the gear I went outside. It was jaw dropping, I basically walked into a rainbow. Most of my images were taken with my iphone but I was able to grab a very short rushed timelapse. Luckily I had recently purchased and installed an allsky camera which really shows just how active it was.
I went out too on Saturday and got all muddy, just mud though, no cows where I ventured. Also nothing that time. I now have Arora watch alerts turned on so should it happen again I will be more prepared. The sun is very active at the moment so we may get another show, fingers crossed.
love the all sky cam footage
Thanks mate. Was so happy to have that set up and working
Totally amazing mate, I knew you would be out to capture what you could , Thank you
I was lucky to be able to capture it. going to try again tonight
Awesome little video mate. Great captures!
Cheers mate, was an awesome experience
Nice work Glen, always love your vids. Last night was pretty special, I caught some nice pics myself here in Chesham Bucks. Yours are amazing, thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Thank you so much. It was an amazing site and I felt so lucky to be able to see and capture it. Hoping for more tonight
Fantastic music and video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent shots Glenn!
Thank you, Was a great experience
Wonderful, mate. That all-sky camera really shows the ridiculous extent of it. What a night!! I don't even know where to begin editing!!
Thank you Paul. I was so happy to have the allsky camera and it really captured the show. Saw your image mate...wow. I am going Framlingham castle tonight and hoping for some more.
Great video, what a capture ❤️
Many thanks! Really glad you enjoyed it.
Missed it, as I'm still in Majorca. Fantastic images! Well done!
Hope you are having a great time mate. It was a proper sight
Bloody amazing mate👍
Thanks mate, especially for the heads up What a sight
One and only time I've seen it here in NI it was a very light green grey colour to the naked eye. I was absolutely shattered last night, I couldn't believe the pics my mates were sending on the group chat. And that they were seeing the red's naked eye too. I'm going out tonight for sure, just hope it stays clear enough!
Good luck. I am venturing out tonight and hoping to be better prepared. Luckily I have the allsky camera but most of my pics were from my iphone.
Brilliant Glenn thought I'd commented but seems I didn't lol, what a truly fantastic night
Thanks mate. It was a great experience
That's nice. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
What a display!! Such colour, thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching
very cool Glenn!!!!
Hi Jason, It was such a site and feel so lucky to have witnessed it.
That's nice
Thank you
Great video Glenn - the allsky camera also delivers 😀 I live at 60 deg north and it`s a significant difference in how often aurora apppears.
Thank you Arnstein. This was my first time seeing them and all I can say is wow. Where I live r 52 Deg N its very rare so feel super lucky. The Allsky camera did an excellent job of recording it. Was so pleased to have that up and running.
I am sure once yours is installed you can show many many more videos of the Aurora. Clear skies.
Excellent stuff Glenn. I was outside all night taking pictures myself (haven't been to bed as I'm still buzzing!), this was the best display in the UK for several decades. Luckily I knew about the coronal mass ejections heading our way in advance so I was ready for it, wasn't ready the display it put on though😮Hoping for clear skies again tonight (not looking promising unfortunately) as there's still more to come.
I was not prepared at all and felt so fortunate to realise and be able to capture and experience the spectacle. It was just amazing. I was lucky to have my new allsky camera set up and working. I am out tonight hoping for more. good luck
@@Astrobloke Nice, the camera certainly paid for itself then! It's cloudy/foggy here tonight so no more aurora for me, but certainly can't complain though.
Really nice vid and music.
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it
Suffolk? Lucky you! I'm considering driving across the country today for what seems to be the only patch of clear skies tonight in England & Wales, around Norfolk & Suffolk, last I checked.
Oh, and looky here, as I type this, I get an alert that conditions are back up to Kp 9, Extreme G5 storm. Very tempting!
We were super lucky. I am going to Framlingham castle later with hopes it appears again, Will have a nice foreground too if lucky.
What an awesome display last night. So glad I saw it too. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re doing well Glenn.
Hi Marc, glad you got to see it. Was such a fantastic sight.
Brilliant video Glenn
Thank you mate. Was you able to see it?
@@Astrobloke unfortunately not
Nice one Glenn 👍
Thanks Mark. Did you get to see it? Hope you are well
It was by far one of the best displays, though tempered by the short night and lack of real dark. You, it seems, didn't have the cloud problems we did in NE Scotland, though it was bright enough to shine through at times, especially my overhead cam. My horizontal cam suffered more from the cloud.
Best I have ever seen and so happy to have. More tonight is a possibility and hopefully you can get it again. Thanks for watching
@@Astrobloke Sadly Saturday night was underwhelming here - aye cloudy at times, but even through the breaks it was ameliorated by the short night and the moon glow.
Well done Glenn👍. Hope it didn’t mess up any imaging you were doing 😂. I looked out a couple of times but no luck. I’ll make a more serious attempt tonight and walk down the road to some dark skies.
It was a strange red cast across my image of M106 that alerted me to something happening. I'll take the lost subs for the experience as it was just amazing. I hope to get more tonight. Good luck for your night
I got it too over in Ireland. Well pleased as that's bucket list stuff.
Just watched you video mate, great stuff. Me too re bucket list...TICK 👍
Fantastic music and video
Many thanks
