The true brilliance in this is not just having Jack Black voice the PSI-King, or the impeccable script writing, it’s that the developers played each of his lines at a spot in the gameplay where they wouldn’t be distracting.
I don't know...this was my least favorite level from this game. The visuals are nice, but the level is just boring plataforming, it didn't even have a boss fight.(The Panic Attacks were kinda annoying to fight) Also, It's the only level that isn't based on personality, memories and traumas.
@@austinmorrison6953 I dont have a favorite level, the casino, the cooking show, the one on books and the mole level were the ones that I enjoyed the most.
@@armandostockvideos8386 this was definitely based off of traumas, specifically Helmut's feeling of abandonment after being forgotten by Ford, not knowing why he was never brought back
Fun fact: if you use clairvoyance on PSI King (at least on his humanlike form), it will show Raz in an outfit similar to Eddie's (at first I thought that's just a simple reference to Brutal Legend because of PSI King's rock theme, but then I found out that Jack Black also voiced PSI King! Guess I should've actually played BL so I could recognize all the other references like picking the violin)
@@humpsterthedumpster3653 something else is that it makes more sense than just an Easter egg. If you think about it, Raz for the level is being Psi King’s roadie.
it was kinda hard for me to belive raz was voiced by the same guy as zim at first, but listening to gameplay with no commentary i can really hear it in some of the grunts and screams he makes certified zim noises
Another Brutal legend reference came up when your playing tasty and sniffles section “keep that ugly muscle in your mouth” it’s from when you defeat the first boss of the game I was waiting for the other one “ you’ll never French kiss again” but they didn’t include that one. Oh well awesome game anyway double fine!
One of my all time favorite gaming twists! I was wondering why this random brain had characters that resembled, Ford, Compton, Bob ect. When the Psi King turned into Helmut, it all made sense, and my jaw was on the floor! This is my favorite game ever made!!
Each of the senses references how he views each of the core members. While we see him be big and loud center stage. It's interesting to note that he seems a lot quieter when he's with Bob in the real world. He doesn't have to be loud when he's with him, because Bob listens to him. That's why he's the ear. That's actually really sweet.
The fact that Cruller is playing the world's smallest violin and the fact that helmut was left with the impression that Ford and Otto didn't go back for him is really good
One of the most fantastic levels in any game. My one complaint is that they seriously didn't think of how this level is bordering on a sensory overload trigger by itself. This isn't their fault and I'm not asking them to sacrifice this incredible-looking level for me because it's part of the point and most people won't mind it. But I would've appreciated some kind of filter that got rid of the extremely bright mish-mash of colors, since my autistic self, who is honestly not even that bad at tolerating these things, had a very painful time trying to adjust. I love it as an artist but infuriatingly enough I can't stand it. I had to set the brightness to low and even turn on color-blind filters to try and mitigate the issue somewhat, but it was still quite a bit of visual noise.
I guess it supposed to represent how Helmut is overwhelmed by everything because his brain was awakened after 20 entire years of no stimuli, but i do agree
22:35 not sure if anyone noticed this but this scene is a reference to when eddie gets the axe in brutal legend. (A game by double fine where eddie is played by jack black). I went fucking nuts when i saw this.
Okay imma be honest, I knew the voices for Raz, Archetype-Raz, and Helmut were familiar. I didn’t know it was the VAs for Zim(Raz) and Gir(Arch-Raz) and it had Jack Black until I read all the comments a few days ago. And I’ve been in this fandom for a good 3 months-ish (something like that)
Does anyone have any idea on how you can enter psi kings head again if you left the game while in it? My game froze and had to reset and it took me back to the concert and ever since, I haven’t been able to find where to go so I can progress..

I love how Raz picks up the violin the same way Eddie picks up his axe.

I like that Bob, Helmut's lover, is represented through the sense of hearing, the part of the body Helmut specializes in as a singer
I love that Vision is the first one with psi king because the first thing we do is seeing things.
