  • Phillip Scott reports on a Black American Sista who loved Africa and its traditions. She was in a relationship with an African man, which didn't end well. She was called "akata," and his family didn't like her because she was Black American.

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 signed into law after The Civil Rights Act of 1964. My grandfather was excluded from the GI bill for being ‘colored’ after fighting in two wars for this country while Immigrants were migrating here on full scholarships.

We need details, a lot of details!
My dad (a Black Man) was a Marine that was drafted during the Korean War in 1952, he never saw combat, but he was able to use his GI Bill Benefits to get his Masters Degree
I'm wondering how my Pop was able to use his GI Bill Benefits in the mid 1950s after the Korean War, yet your grandfather wasn't able to - MY GUESS is he was located in a segregated state in the Jim Crow South
If the above was true - many Southern Jim Crow States would pay for Black soldiers that had earned GI Bill Benefits to use their GI Bill Educational Benefits at Colleges up North or out West
My guess is that it wasn't THE US GOVERNMENT, but the local Jim Crow Segregated Southern State that blocked your grandfather's educational benefits, since those colleges were still Segregated (once again I'm just guessing out loud)
I'd like to hear these details of how your Grandfather's GI Bill Educational Benefits were blocked - making those kind of claims requires some detailed explanations

We feel different, mocked, rejected by black Americans when we try to blend into their culture that is not ours. Therefore, we create our African communities and gravitate towards our African communities.

@@Sthbama09 True. But the term "gang" is old English and was coined by Europeans, slaves and has no "one proper origin". Some yrs ago in Canada a Nigerian guy was being very rude to me so I asked him loudly "do u still f..king eat ppl or did u stop doing it" ? he almost jumped outta his skin! The problem is a lot of your people seemed to not understand the concept of 'The Dozens'. Folks do we have to always make mountains out of molds on a minor scratch? I am from Ghana and I remember at college going to sit at a table of all black students in the dinning room. Soon as I say down
they moved their trays onto another table. Can you imagine the hurt and embarrassment in this situation? Guess what TWO JAMAICANS AND A DOMINACANO QUICKLY MOVED TO JOIN ME. This was an isolated incident and realized then that I needed not generalize to blame the entire Black American population as Anti African.
Several years later I was the Attending in a ER in New York when a man brought his son.He saw my name and quickly recognized me.He was one of those who ""moved to another table " at college. We have become good friends since and have traveled to Ghana twice since then.
The lesson here is we are humans and make mistakes so we must forgive and forget...We should stop these petty issues and also avoid escalation.

Lady, I understand her frustration with the behavior of some African brothers & sisters, but lets keep it real. Sub-Sahara Africa has 1.2 billion people. According to the migration policy institute as of 2020, only 2.1 million Sub-Saharan Africans lived in the USA out of a total immigrant population of over 45million. India, has 5.4million, China 4.8million. Salvador (pop. 6.5million) has about 2.4million immigrants in the USA. So stop saying "the majority of you all come from Africa to America."
Most immigrant brothers & sisters I know have 2 homes, one in USA/UK/EU/South America & one in Africa. And many of them have no issues with their diaspora brothers & sisters, so please stop the narrative of trying to put all in one hand-basket.
