I was one of the 6,000+ brave souls who shuffled across the icy pavements and endured freezing temperatures to watch the game. Chris had already set the tone in the pre-match press release, so my expectations were, let’s say, “realistic.” True to his words, their team had more cohesion, better shape, and sharper passing than ours. There were some promising moments from the youngsters, but unfortunately, it was a senior Blade who got caught out, gifting them their chance on goal. By the 80th minute, the crowd around me was practically begging we didn’t equalize-nobody fancied losing their noses to frostbite in extra time! Hats off to Cardiff for the win. You’ve earned a home tie after making the trek in these bone-chilling conditions. Best of luck in the next round-you deserve it!
Only way young lads will learn is by these experiences, well done Chris, what had to be done was done! League first. Onto Norwich, arm round young lads and thank Del Geary for all he's doing.....

Agree that a winning mentality for every team every match is essential. It would be good if when listing all the teams there is a shout out to Sheffield United Women. They are part of the club as well and need a boost - also about to enter a crucial part of the season.
@@tonylockwood6370: This season, new squad, new owners ( who are willing to spend) and back Wilder and potential new signings to come will be a different, but better season for the Blades ⚔️
In Wilder, we TRUST!! Sensible decision to play the team he did. Disappointed in performances apart from Davies and Brooks, it's very frustrating that we couldn't make 10 yard passes and why we can't put the ball in the box more often frustrates the hell out of me!! But love you Bladesmen! UTB
Important game for the manager to understand where we’re short and which young players can be trusted with opportunities. Peck and Seriki was in the same position as Marsh, Blacker, Oné etc. before we played Wrexham - they took their opportunity and have been given more opportunities as a result. Regardless of age, it’s about taking your chance when you play. Wilder will know that certain players aren’t ready as a result of that performance. That isn’t a bad thing. I think he learned a lot about Gilchrist, McCallum, Brewster, RND etc. too - it’s all good data for a manager.
You might be right there, from a blade. P.s...I worked on the BBC Wales building a few years ago doing the soundproofing, loved my time in Cardiff, used to drink in the queens vaults mainly and go to coyote ugly's after....had some great nights!!
We get it wilder you want players in we want players in no point losing more in a comp we won’t win. But we was poor and the worrying thing was from 1st team regulars.
No issue with the team selection. Expected kids and fringe players. What I have issue with is the players on the pitch not being able to pass the ball 5 yards and getting to the final third of the pitch and then checking back and going back to the centre halves. Too slow in the build up and not positive enough. Really poor performance from lads who are wanting more playing time but didn't take their chance.
Totally agree with the idea of throwing tonight, resting plays but the eye opener for me tonight was seeing just how bad some of our so-called senior players are without the other better players to support them. Brewster and RND were dreadful. If only we had the bodies in the door so we could ship those two out.
Hear what you're saying about Brewster, but RND has not had much game time and I think it was a mistake he wouldn't normally make. Just had a bad day at the office. He's better than that. UTB
@andykay2159 RND wasn't just the mistake, he was caught out of position a few times, hasn't looked the same player since his injuries. Main problem is you can't leave him on an island, unlike Anel or Robbo, so the LB can't push forward or if he does, RND gets exposed with his lack of mobility. The way we play, our CBs need to be able to defend one on one and that not RND's strength. He's a solid backup or an okay CB in a flat 4 or 3. But yeah, we move on. UTB.
Totally get where you're coming from, Chris. Squad injuries have forced your hand. Impressed with Blacker and Marsh ( academy). Let's now concentrate on the remainder of this season. UTB ⚔️

Bigger picture - suicidal to put strong squad out etc etc. Wilder tries to explain to the fans that did make the effort to brave the ice and snow to attend why he could not be bothered. He has no respect for supporters - what’s the point of going up to the Prem League with him in charge? Last time it was painful to watch.
Unfortunately, it was obvious before the match which way the wind was blowing (metaphorically speaking), which is why the attendance of approx. 6,000, was so small. I take my hat off to the fans who spent money and turned up in freezing conditions, but one could argue that they should have known what was coming.
I know a lot of parents /grandparents booked over Xmas and won’t have heard Wilder talking in the way he does. From a personal point of view I prefer to go and watch games rather than staying at home watching on tv. I had thought he would introduce some of the main squad for some of the game. I also thought the academy players would be coached for the roles expected of them. Wilder let us down and if the board has any sense they will look at his tenure during spells in the Prem League and realise he is not the right coach. A better coach would have motivated players last night and wanted a full stadium to support the team. By his utterances and actions you could tell he wanted to lose and couldn’t care less about the fans attending.
Anyone been negative don't comment, what wilder has done since he's been back, bearing on mind how he was treat and disrespected first time round, the rebuild, on a small budget and so many players coming and going is nothing short of brilliant, be grateful we have a manager who loves our club, that few percent who are always negative, we don't need it
As expected all the embarrassing excuses are out as to why 20k fake fans didn't turn up yet again for an early round cup game.
