LOL I loved Leave the World Behind - I'm all the way here for speculative, dystopian fiction with ambiguous endings. I always think that if it all wraps up neatly it's not speculative enough. Reading The Anomaly a couple of years ago for book club made me realize that this is a very niche kind of book that I enjoy.
The only book on your list that I have read is The Hobbit, and it is my all-time favorite book. I loved everything about it…especially Bilbo! ❤ My mom tried reading it and couldn’t get into it…the names were too much for her to get over. The worst book I read this year was Icebreaker. I expected a cute romance but it was disgusting. 🤢
I have not read The Bourne series but the movies with Matt Damon are good. Not related but I read The Hole We’re In by Gabrielle Zevin. 4 1/2 stars Very interesting-did not see that coming! I look forward to seeing the rest of your year end shenanigans!
I dnf'd a Story of a Bookseller too. Read The Bourne Identity, gave it 3,5 stars, dnf'd the next one in the series. Leave the World Behind I gave 2 stars, so in these cases we have similar booktaste😊
@BekahBooksandBujo Oh, and I forgot: I dnf'd The Hobbit not so long ago!😂 I read The Lord of the Ring trilogy when I was a teenager and somehow enjoyed it. Then I saw the first movie. Got bored to death! No more Tolkien for me, films or books!😄
I could not for the life of me read the Hobbit, but I know I like the LOTR world so I tried the audiobook read by Andy Serkis and it was wonderful! I'm super excited to listen to him read the LOTR trilogy this year.
I never read The Bourne Identity but saw the movie and that was confusing, it a movie you have to see twice to understand more of it, so I can imagine reading it would be just as confusing.
I’m so glad you mentioned the Hobbit because I have tried that book so many times. I guess I’m just not into fantasy. And I, too, DNF’d the Tom Hanks book. I was so disappointed!
I haven’t read Leave the World Behind, but I did watch the Netflix movie and it was ok. I DNF’d the first book Tom Hanks wrote, which was short stories, and I thought that one was incredibly boring so I haven’t tried any of his other ones. I do love him as an actor tho! 😂
I recommended Owen Meany (and I think gave you the book!), and I still think you are wrong! Agree to disagree! We also read the Tom Hanks book (also recommended & gave it to you), and found it more interesting than you did, but not the best book ever. Haha, if you’re not recommending, I’m not reading!

Haha Owen Meany. They made us read that damn thing in school.

Leave the world behind was pretty bad lol I always think about how the author had like 3 pages talking about groceries 😂 no thanks
