- We start on a monumental project with our KX500 build to better than new. We will not only rebuild but we will update as much of this machine as we can.

#KX500 #KXZILLA #2-Stroke
Honestly, this KX should be preserved in a collection, and ridden with care. These survivors are getting extremely rare these days. I'm sure the project result will look cool and perform better, but the OEM low hour condition of the bike had me drooling over here.
Exactly!! i have a 1995 fully rebuilt everything suspension etc with a 1987 kx500 engine scary is a understatement coming out of a corner gassing it is rocket up the backside stuff lol but Damn fun factor 10
Let's face it Jay you get to do all the fun stuff buy just sending everything out and having other people do all the real work then you get all these awesome parts sent back to you and you bolt them all back together and end up with an expensive but amazing bike when it's all completed doesn't get any better than that when it comes to building bikes I want your job.
That's a great looking bike also scary fast lol I like the look of old bikes
Awesome work 👍
Thanks ✌️
Boston Fenway Park isn't the only Green Monster. KX500 2-Stroke Yeah Baby!
Nice 👍. Look forward to the next video. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Retro builds are so Rad...doing and 85 CR250R now. KX500 is next. Will be following this build.. keep up the great videos..
Glad you like them!
Awesome, nice change to your video style. 🤙🤙
Glad you like it!
Ton of work but it will turn out great. These old 500 big bores are a blast from the past.
Great video Jay. I like a good tear down video. When can we expect to see the finished bike?
Sweet video and an epic bike.
You could probably sell those stock plastics, bars, etc. to those trying to make museum piece.
I was up to six kx500s. Back down to four!
Oh boy-- that is an obsession
This is going to be an awesome build! The manufacturers need to bring back the big bore two strokes. You commented about updating the look of the front end. It is probably just me, but I think the older bikes look better. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build!
Can't wait to see the final outcome.
Looks like a lot of work and I'm sure it will look awesome when it's done.
I hope so!
How do I find raptor guest?
Do that have a weld on kit available?
Yes-- email me for details and intro to Raptor--
Great build! TMR engine massage, correct gearing and suspension and ride 3rd gear all day long even in the woods. Love 500's!
Right on!
This looks like a fun build and I love your workshop. You would not catch me riding that green monster wide open anywhere ever. No way!!
Agree with you-
Looks like a good build obviously the purists will be horrified you are modding a vintage mx bike in reasonable condition ,realistically you will extend the life of the bike as it’s not going to rot away in a shed somewhere and will actually be ridden occasionally ,anything that generates interest in these old monsters and crazy era of guys riding them is a good thing👍👍👍D
tires should be a K490 front and a K695 rear if they are original
Thanks
Tearing a bike down in an hour is not easy.
Do they make a small bore kit? Lol. I wonder if they can be tamed well enough for woods work?
Getting famous off of comments day 152, so I can live the dream, live life to the fullest.🤙🤙🤙
Why take a cherry, original unicorn and modify the hell out of it? Find a clapped out one. This makes me sick to the stomach.
Sorry -- Because we can and want to make it better -- -
Only a collector wants it fully stock.. Someone who actually rides them, wants all the best upgrades. Suspension and stopping power from stainless brake lines, with over sized front rotor, makes the world of difference on these big bores.
@@dirtbiketv1 These old 500s are so hard to find. Especially low hour barn finds. Could have sold it to a collector, then bought a decent used one that would benefit from the upgrades and had lots of cash to spare. But, you do great work, so at least it will be an awesome bike when it’s done.
This is the final straw i am un subscribing. Bunch of mupets on this channel
Sorry--
