I remember Lew as a kid and he was awesome even then. I would pass his house and he was practicing, practicing all the time. R'I.P. Good guy! Frederick "Rik" Spector
Where was I !? Where have I been!!!? Lol.They are just AMAZING !!! CRAZY GOOD!!! ALL OF THEM!!! I LOVE especially the drummer & the trumpeter & the sax player! But of course the bassist is SO awesome & the pianist is great as well !
This is a truly outstanding piece of jazz... Every player excels, individually, and as an integral group member.-- As in their version of duke Ellington's classic "Take The A Train", they allow bass player Charnett Moffett an extended solo here, the implication being they think highly of his playing, but then again their drummer Victor Feldman gets a pretty good solo as well.....
+tunefultony johnson I don't think the drummer is Victor Feldman, unless there were two VFs. Victor Feldman that wrote for and played with Miles Davis was white. Could be the pianist? Who is the sax player?
+Steve Lawless Thanks for correcting me, Mr. Lawless.... I got a bit mixed up, perhaps because they are both called Victor. You're right :: Victor Feldman was the composer and pianist, but the drummer on this 2003 album BLUE BOSSA was Victor Lewis. The saxophone player is Andy Snitzer, on piano David Matthews, on bass Charnett Moffett, on trumpet Lew Soloff. Victor Lewis is one of my favourite drummers, so I really should have got his name right. George Young featured in an earlier incarnation of this group, with Eddie Gomez and Steve Gadd.
+Gerardo Barela De La Cruz -- Donde estas? -- En Brazil? -- Lamento, pero el famoso actor Sylvester Stallone nunca ha tocado el tenor saxophone.... Estas mucho desilusionado, por favor.
The great Lew Soloff! 🎺🎷🎹🎻🥁RIP! I love the slow and fast pace of that song🤗
