At least two of the original members of Foreigner are dead. Lou deserves tons of respect for his contributions to the song catalog and the talent he provided during the years he was in form. But, I just saw the "replacement" Foreigner in concert last night and I can tell you, if you trotted out Lou now or probably in the last 10 years, you'd be watching an old guy who might possibly still sound good, but couldn't move more than five feet in either direction without having to sit down for 5 minutes to catch his breath.
The current band was terrific, had tons of energy and talent, and sounded every bit like the original group I saw 45 years ago. Kelly Hansen - who is no spring chicken himself anymore - performed more like a 30 year old than a 62 year old, and hit every note like a pro. The songs sounded fresh and as new as they did in 1978. I'm 66, and the current iteration of Foreigner makes it worth every penny to go see them before they wrap things up for good in 2024.

Not a bad band for their time. It might not be time to hang it up, but maybe it's time to realize the novelty been over decades ago. Hardly a band left with half its original members... except Aerosmith, ZZ Top, and a handful of others. Boston lost it decades ago. Styx is holding on. Kansas, while still amazing, is a weak shadow of what they were. Yes couldn't and can't bring it any longer because of deaths, lawyers (#1 reason) and egos (same plus Howe). Chicago lost its zest after Cetera got too pop and then Kath's unfortunate demise.

I love both versions of Foreigner, for whatever reason Lou is no longer with the band and Kelly Hansen is now (well soon to be retired) the singer. I know there is a difference between the two men but I do enjoy Kelly singing the songs and he does an amazing job, he embodies what Foreigner is and was. He doesn't take away from Lou Gramm as vocalist however with that said he is a very strong contender. He is the best singer Foreigner has had since Lou Gramm. And while Lou finds it insulting he should really accept it as flattery because (remove the fact its a replacement singer) Kelly Hansen does become Foreigner, he doesn't change what doesn't need changed. He does it the way Lou did it simply because he knows what we the fans expect so by not changing anything, we get what we expect if it was Lou VS Kelly. Kelly seems to be a singer who is been a replacement in an amazing band and in reality by him not changing anything and making art that wasn't his own creation sound as if he were the original singer out of respect for Lou's craft. Sure you can make changes to a set up or even a line up but representing a band that is as famous as Foreigner you don't want to fix what isn't broken, you can lend your voice to something but when it's that good why change it and make it your own when it never was your own in the first place? You wouldn't and I believe this was the goal that Kelly wanted to achieve and that is keeping Foreigner original in the since that it's older music, and totally classic. Now if they were writing new music (which they aren't) I could see Kelly making it his own verses taking credit for what Lou originally was a writer or the writer of. Both men are amazing singers. Lou really should step outside the box and forget he is a professional and see it without bias and realize the flattery. Don't be offended Kelly clearly respects you enough to keep Foreigner....Foreigner.

Lou didn't leave Foreigner in 2003 because of singing issues . Lou actually quit because of Mick Jones big problems with Alcohol they also were having musical disagreements almost similar to what happened causing Lou to leave in 1990 and Lou got fed up , he left as he said "For good " his parents both died in 2003 , 7 months apart. Lous fathers wish was for Lou and his 2 brothers play in a band together and in 2004 forms the "Lou Gramm band". Jones in 2011 had a heart valve operation and a throat tumor. Nowadays he comes out midway through a show or maybe one song near the end . Uh, do the math. Mick keep partying through his 50s . He's 77 now and I'll just leave that open ended and not be critical.
