      Inspired doesn't mean copied. The Soviet order was to create a weapon with the same characteristics as the STG-44.

    • @greengringolr
      @greengringolr Год назад

      To add further the STG-44 used a system called roller delayed blowback, which used a system of rollers and rails to reduce the felt recoil. The modern MP5 also uses this system, as well as a lot of Heckler And Koch designs. You can really see some visual resemblance to the STG-44 in the G3 and MP5. So yes the AK-47 only has a similar silhouette and shares literally nothing mechanically in common with the STG-44, the MP5 does however. Which is actually quite ironic considering it’s the “good guy gun”
      Edit: just found out the roller delayed blowback originally was used in the MG-42. So we have that badass weapon to thank for the MP-5. Two very iconic weapons.

    • @beefyblom
      @beefyblom 2 года назад +1

      I mean, that's objectively false about the MP40. the MP40 was only issued in large quantities to squad leaders and vehicle crewmen. The average German soldier was equipped with the Kar98k, with all squads either equipped with a single MG34 or MG42 which all squad members were trained to use.
      The Tommy gun was a brilliant firearm, and its relatively low numbers (due to it being a squad leaders' and vehicle crewmans' weapon, similarly to the MP40) was compensated for by American infantry squads being given large numbers of Browning Automatic Rifles and semi-automatic rifles such as the Garand.

    Dad was in charge of an extreme gun squad. He was given a Thompson but gave it away to one of his men . He picked up a 1911 from a dead soldier. He was an extreme marksman and didn't need a sniper . He had most faith in the M1 . I'm not sure why the 1911 wasn't issued to him . He said that the M1 was good for street Fighting until my uncle questioned him about clearing buildings. He didn't say much because I was there. When he came back his favorite sport was hunting squirrels with a 22 revolver . I never saw him miss.. Probably hard to determine who should've had one but I know that many Germans died from it. Dad was a natural so it was probably not comparable.to many. He also took up archery and within months with a recurve was out shooting everyone at the range . With a bow against someone with a handgun I would bet on him . Many busted knocks and gouged wood shafts. He broke in service his bayonet from throwing it into a tree before going through the Hedge row country. I never saw him throw a knife but I'm sure he was deadly accurate.

      Mhm. Wish CoD would go back to the more simpler times when cutscenes in missions were at a minimum, quick time events didn't exist, and lots of times you can complete an objective or multiple in your own way instead of being forced on a very linear route. Like the final fight against two tigers.. either you could blow up the tracks and watch your squad throw a grenade inside it (very fun to watch but also very dangerous), blow up the fuel tanks to destroy it immidiately (kind of boring but immidiately destroys the threat), or use an 88 (very fun to use but you are exposed while using it, and not to mention they are in fixed positions so the tiger might not be in the line of sight).

    fun fact by ww2 the m1903 springfield had pretty much been phased out in favor of the m-1 garand introduced in 1936, the marine corps units were the only ones using springfields, other than snipers when the us entered ww2 there were not enough garands at the time

    What does it take for a rifle to became an assault rifle? A politician.

    • @darnit1944

      George Bonta Due to Hitler's uninterest in rifles, the designers of StG 44 disguised the rifle's name as "Machine pistol 44". StG 44 later came as a propaganda name when Hitler finally took interest and ordered mass production.
      Back in WW2, the term assault rifle doesnt exist. So based on the history, you could say that "assault rifle" is a term to propagandized weapons.

      No, it needs to be large enough to not be considered a carbine, be fully automatic, and fire an intermediate cartridge.

    • @GB101ish
      @GB101ish 7 лет назад +8

      CT-5597 Jesse Wrong. It takes a politician like Hitler to change a rifle like the MP44 to sturmgewehr.

    • @ambiguitiy1207
      @ambiguitiy1207 7 лет назад +18

      I'm speaking of the actual definition of an assault rifle. It was only named machienpistole (submachine gun or "machine pistol" in German) because they had no current name for it, until it was renamed sturmgewehr.
