    I was with the 101st Airborne in Northern Iraq in 2003-2004. The Kurdish area were the only truly safe places for us Americans, and the Peshmerga were our friends. I went to Dohuk many times to purchase goods for our unit. I wish our Kurdish friends and brave Peshmerga fighters victory over the ISIS radicals. Hopefully, the Kurds will finally get an independent and prosperous Kurdistan.

      Blixten trust me brother as someone who has family and personal experiences in the last 15 years fighting along side the Kurds it feels like shit to see us pull out. So much we fought for with them for nothing and it’s not fair. Hopefully one day we can make up for it or something

      simple, your country invaded Iraq, not "kurdistan" so the people who've been invaded and their homeland burned will attack their enemy for the sake of their country.
      the same thing you will do if your country invaded but you're blinded people.

    "ISIS see no difference amongst Kurds, Sunnis, Yazidis" - well we've already found that's nonsense, just look at the thousands of Yazidis trapped and dying on the Sinjar mountains

    calling the iraqi army cowards? they were ready to fight isis but last minute they had orders to stand down from their generals when isis attacked, those poor men died because their commander would rather back stab his own people. The least people should be doing is educating themselves on these facts and respecting those fallen soldiers. The iraqi army is doing so well right now and have taken back so many towns and villages. 100 soldiers in the baiji oil refinery against thousands of isis fighters and they still won. Just a couple days ago the shia militia , the iraqi army and pershmerga all worked together and took back two main towns that were controlled by isis. Truly shows that when you work together alot more is possible so stop with all this name calling and hatred; we have too much of that in this world already.

      You obviously aren't keeping up with the news in Iraq lol because then you wouldn't be so bias their is even an Instagram page for the iraqi swat where everyday they post videos and pictures if talking back an Isis infested town which is then on the news, educate yourself their doing far more then you are on here bitching about them geez, there fighting Isis and doing us all a favor appreciate that. Men are dying for an American creation if the USA hadn't armed Isis so
      Well
      And trained them
      Since 2005 this wouldn't be happening

Even though im not close to any borders or clashes at all, i wouldn't be afraid to go out there tomorrow. What're you afraid of? Who're you afraid of? Terrorists? Those fuckers are just farmers with weapons and knives. Even though they're fucked up in the head, they don't want to kill people for everything. My point is, as long as you behave and dont do weird shit, you'll do fine. And that's the number one rule anywhere on this planet. You can't live with fear controlling you.

    ISIS is now fighting the Syrian government, Syrian rebels, the Iraqi government and Shiite militias. The Kurds have a very large population in northern Syria and northern Iraq and are said to be some of the fiercest fighters in the region. Best they not piss off the Kurds or they will be digging their own graves.

    • @MessiMerdo
      @MessiMerdo 10 лет назад +5

      They are already fighting Kurds in Syria, and the only place they couldn't conquer/defeat are actually the Kurdish YPG forces in Syria. In Syria the only forces within the FSA who give a hard time to ISIS are again the Kurdish Jabhat al Akrad group. One of the main reasons they actually avoid Peshmerga in Iraq, is because the Kurdish forces in Syria have teached them a hard lesson. As long as they avoid us we will avoid them because we dislike this Maliki dude almost as much as they do

      I know that there are also some Kurds among the ISIS.
      but they haven't taken even a single town inside the KRG so what the heck are you sayingt, contrary the Kurds have taken even the last Kurdish territories outside KRG. All Towns which were "conquered" by ISIS are actually Turkoman (Tel Afar) and Sunni Arab (Mosul). Even the Kurdish part of North Mosul, Sinjar is now under Peshmerga control.

      After watching gore sites of ISIS executing hundreds of innocent people, I can't help but be persuaded to believe that Islam (while I agree it is a religion of peace) caused this extremist group that is devouring Iraq. I hate to say this, but Islamic doctrine is causing this holocaust. My respect to Islamist who may take this the wrong way. I'm completely agnostic, and I believe religious cults do amazing things for humanity. Ugh, it hurts to say this, Islam may very well cause World War 3. And the propaganda is to blame. They need the Internet. Too bad it's blocked in that nation. Otherwise they'd know the world is a pretty okay place, and being kind to each other, not killing, is a beautiful thing.

      The word was invented by Kurds during WWI to describe the brave Kurds who rebelled for our freedom.

      Together it means those who face death.

    You don´t have to like the kurds, but they are warriors. They would rather die than run, ISIS does not stand a chance against them.
    The Iraqi army had a good reason to run? What the fuck, seriously?? The are freaking soldiers, it´s their job to fight and protect their country. they outnumberd and outgunned ISIS by far, of course, some of them might have died in combat, but that´s the risk you take when you wear a military uniform. ISIS could have been stopped.

    • @kingmadig9015

      If the cowardly Iraqi army gave their equipment to our Peshmerga, we would absolutely annihilate ISIS. Currently our Peshmerga is mostly using old Soviet weapons, and we still win. If we had the new more advanced U.S weapons along side an airforce, the ISIS would be long gone from Kurdish borders.

      No, no matter what else can be said about this, the Iraqi army failed in their duties. I do not believe they deserve any help. Instead, I would be providing the assistance to the volunteers who stepped up when the army ran, or to the Kurds themselves.

      fromolwyoming Because they did not fight and defend their country, instead they ran and some got captured while running away. If they held their ground and fought back there is a good chance most of them would still be alive and ISIS might have retreated. Although the fact that a whole army deserts suggests it was a very bad army or they were infiltrated with traitors among high ranking officers.

    The Kurds are the world's largest ethnic group without a country of their own and have been oppressed recently or are currently being oppressed in every country that they currently reside in. Yet most people have no fucking clue, go figure.
    This whole thing is very confusing to me. Iran claims they want to fight ISIS and maintain the sovereignty of Iraq. However, ISIS is born from Syria, a place where Iran has spent a great deal of money financing both sides, while Saudi Arabia only funds one side. That and they historically hate the Sunnis and the Iraqis. Iran also sponsored al-Qaeda and many other foreign fighters when they entered Iraq after the US invasion. ISIS seems like bad news for peace and sovereignty in the region, but it is pretty hard to trust Iran's claims of wanting to maintain that sovereignty.
    Furthermore, ISIS claims it wants a Pan-Arabian Caliphate, as does the Muslim Brotherhood which is another group and goal Iran supports. At this awkward intersection of religious ideology, ethnicity, want for peace, desire for instability, and geo-political struggle I don't think anyone really knows what should be done and whats going to happen. Meanwhile, while every in the region is standing around with their dicks in their hands, Iraq is falling to pieces again and may not be whole AND free for quite some time. It is a shame.

      @staygreezy 10 лет назад +1

However, if they capture land from ISIS, no one bats an eye.

Turkey is sending airstrikes on the kurds. Iraq has captured the Kurds capital (Kirkuk) and they still have it captured. Actually he wouldn't die within two days. The guardian and telegraph have been reporting from Baghdad for the whole past week. CNN (and pretty much everyone else) is in Baquba right now, which is only 40 miles away from Baghdad and currently under assault by ISIS because it is the last major town standing in the way on the road to Baghdad. Hell, they have friggin' Anderson Cooper over there right now, so enough with this weak excuse of "vice can't send people down there because it's too dangerous". Everyone else has been in the thick of it for an entire week, reporting from Baghdad, reporting from the scene of heavy fighting for crying out loud, so if everyone else is reporting from the front lines in spite of the danger that they all face, but vice can't be bothered to send any correspondents down there, it is either because they are too afraid, or not interested enough in covering the really urgent stories that are unfolding as we speak.

    • @thethreeamazingmen
      @thethreeamazingmen 10 лет назад +2

      hmm, didnt realise. just the way CNN were talking they made Baghdad sound like it was about to explode tomorrow, but thats american propaganda for you, i shouldn't have taken it as face value.
      Maybe thats why theyre not there then, they might want to try get an angle that other news outlets dont (vice seems to enjoy doing that). Also, i think they have a thing for the kurds (vice) because theyve done quite afew stories on them already (they made a doc about them ages ago, also kurds in syria and now this). Maybe vice are predicting the formation of a Kurdistan country and are trying to cover them as much as possible before it actually happens so they can say "we were there" sort of thing.

Dick Cheney in 1994 stated that Baghdad was not invaded in 1991 because of what is happening now (sectarianism, disintegration and civil war) The Iraq War and occupation was doomed to failure and they knew this since the Gulf war in 91" George H. brenden donaldson ISIL are only ~8000 strong, with a great chunk of those fighting in Syria and northern Iraq. Kuwait has 15,000 active soldiers (with 31,000 reserve), and more advanced weaponry and systems than what the Iraqi army has. We also have several thousand US soldiers stationed in Kuwait as part of a defense agreement. So even if ISIL manages to pass through the border, going through both Iraqi and Kuwaiti troops, they would very quickly be dispatched by the Kuwaiti military. I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to stick to Iraq right now.

And also predicted that islam would be completely misunderstood (even by many Muslims).

    Well im sunni muslim from turkey and I cant tell how sick I am from these ISIS guys and their supporters they are like the %3-5 of the "sunni" group.(we count them as non-muslims but they say they are sunni). We acceptted everyone who flee to Turkey shia or sunni, muslim or not and trying protect and feed them. Before you hate speech please condider the real muslim people like us. I agree all hate on ISIS and they are far away from islam.

    The Kurds seem to be strong and fearless warriors... they seem to be proud that they are Kurds and want to keep it that way.

      As an American I wish that the Sunnie, Shia and Kurds would all put down their weapons and meet and greet each other as Allah would desire... not who could destroy one another. Allah or any god did not put people here on earth to kill and injure one another.

    When they drove by the taxi, I thought it would be pretty crazy if they shot at it like it was GTA Fallujah. Then they did.

    The iraqi army's commander in the north sold out the army and collaborated with isis. They told them isis was coming and that the best thing to do was surrender because they had no chance of fighting against what isis was coming in with.

    On March 21 it is newroz, a day kurds celebrate and put up fires, but this coming March 21 its not that. The ISIS have captured 17 Peshmarges and they are saying that on March 21 they are going to burn these innocent people alive. Please pray for these 17 Peshmarges and all the Kurdish Peshmarges. May God be with them.
