Very useful for mastering sound art and experimental pieces. Obviously taking care of many details in the chain like little or no compression and limiter and precise use of the eq. Thank you.
ATTN: you need ableton suite (not intro or lite or standard) to use Color Limiter. i just upgraded to suite edition, and now i can use the mastering chain.
The evening thanks for making a free mastering chain for Ableton. This is most useful and watch pretty good for it out the box on default. Keep making them videos you guys and I'll keep watching thanks for your channel it is brilliant I watch all the time and I still have quite a lot of your tutorials and learnt a lot from them. Cheers then!
unbelievable tutorial! best mastering video I've seen by far. Wondering what your thoughts are on using OTT on a mastering chain? I used to use it after everyone online was doing the same, but it made my mixes sound trash - which is why I don't use them anymore. But then again I've heard producers like Deadmau5 use it on the master.. what do people reckon?
Thank you for the video, contains useful information. Here on my monitors the track gained much more details and sound´s quite well so far. Nice to see your approach, best regards to you and all other guys here.
very cool brother. but I do have a question: is it worth doing this process to other entirely kind of music. tense atmosphere mood. like 3 violin tracks (very dirty ones) and a Sylenth one note sub bass. Ill do anyways to check the results.
@@edgali hey! can you explain a bit more? I downloaded the mastering chain and the tilt shift is the only device that won't appear in the chain once opened.
@@Foti03 I don't quite remember how I made my own tilt shift, but I think I used this reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/ableton/comments/9zgce1/how_do_i_diy_a_tilt_eq_aka_pivot_eq_with_eq8/
Great explanation ! A couple of questions though. Any insight would be appreciated. 🙂 At what point in time during the process explained do you disable the first Utiity that's being used to listen to the song in midsize=mono mode ? In the video it seems you enable it to listen to the song in mono mode, then you disable it, then the EQ is used to tweak the mid-size frequencies. However given that you disabled the utility you are hearing the stereo sound, not the mono sound, so in fact tweaking is done on what you hear in stereo isn't it ? If that's correct, isn't that strange ?Shouldn't the Utility to enable mono be enabled all the time until you've tweaked the frequencies with the EQ and are satisfied ? The same question for the Utility to listen in sides mode. Shouldn't that be enabled as long as you're tweaking the side frequencies using the EQ ? Do you disable the two utilities once you get to the stage of the two limiters ? After you've gone through the process up until the two limiters, shouldn't you also at that point enable the Utility to listen in mono again. To verify that the end result still sounds ok in mono ? Kr
Ableton live is by far the best DAW in the market my recordings went from a big dramatic change in studio quality unfortunately I have ableton live 10 lite version and it rocks
Question: What's the difference between bouncing down to and uploading a .WAV to SC (or anywhere else) and letting their converter convert the track to MP3, as opposed to bouncing it down to MP3 with Ableton? Is Ableton's MP3 converter not as good, or do we do this just so we can add dither?
Hey there, at the last limiter I get a lot of compression when my kick hits, and the bright green volume wont go up to -7 or so, where could my mistake be? relative volume?
Hi, Can I just lower the master level so the peak reaches -6db, or do I have to lower the level of each tracks and leave the master at 0db? Thanks a lot
@@PierreMendola i set up my ableton to have every new audio/midi track to be at -6db automatically, it really helps in the long run. if you're used to working louder then put a utility at +6db on the master then delete once you're done

@@Catandbeats The reason is.. When mastering it after export, you apply the full effect of what's being adjusted on all elements simultaneously, instead of additional element adjusting. That's why it's called Pre- mastering. Its a no brainer...🙂
@@Catandbeats Oh, and the other reason i forgot to mention is having the correct LUFS on the whole track, and no...it doesnt work if you place all eq on the master. You MUST export it and then apply the mastering chain. That's the final mastering being done. Your LUFS will not be the same once you export it. why would you use dithering while you're not exporting from wav 24 bit to an mp3 ?
Stay tuned for the next instalment ;)
The mastering Chains link.. has no mastering chains in it :(

you can recreate the tilt shift using macros, if it helps.

Is there any free plug ins that can be used for the tilt EQ?
yes. just use the EQ8 and make macros for the high / low values to one knob. Tilt EQ ready to use.
This is Boris Brejchas song?

i don't see it in stock effects. did you find it?

I am here for same reason...
When I finish mastering, in the dry limiter, as I add it the master volume turns Red. What can I do?
