I saw Heilung in LA last December (2023), phenomenal experience. I am going to Red Rocks later this month (Apr 2024) to see them again. I'm absolutely thrilled by them,
One of my fav groups! Singing in old Norske. The music is hypnotic. Have some new music out that is so fantastic! Have seen them live and it is magical ❤
It's nice that you brought up the audience paying attention to the performance. When I saw them I didn't hear anyone around me talking at all during the entire ritual and I've never experienced that before. It made an already incredible night more enjoyable not having to hear multiple conversations going while trying to take in the music.
I saw them live but not the first time I could. I was at the Castlefest festival where the Lifa performance, their first concert, was recorded, at 300 meters from the stage, out of sight. I was there with my kids and had to take care of them, which comes first. 2 years later they were in a city 70 km (45 miles) away, so I walked to there in 3 days (just because I could - train would´ve been an hour). The 3-day hike enhanced the experience for me.
Anoana is based on inscriptions carved into golden bracteates (Roman coins) recovered around Northern Europe by archeologist and treasure hunters. None of these inscriptions have been translated however one word, Landawariar, is believed to mean protector of the land, guardian of the land or simply Land Warrior. Heilung looked at these inscriptions and interpreted Anoana to be in the form of a woman. The official video really tells the story of this woman and has a very empowering message. I highly recommend viewing it.
I hope u had a chance to go back and watch this without speaking and feel the power of what is the most inspirational song of the last 50+yes... Heilung is healing
I don't ....not ....like this live version, but I think for the effort they put into the music video from the epic landscaping and the remastering of the music, I think it would be a disservice not to watch the music video. Just my opinion because it is a different experience.
I had the pleasure of being at the show this was recorded at and I can safely say it was probably the best thing I've ever seen live. Absolutely unreal.
I have seen them live once on Novarock, which is a big rock and metal festival in Austria. They played right after Korn... When Korn was playing, the entire crowd was one big moshpit. No matter where you were standing, you could not stay on the same place. It was insane. Tight afterwards Heilung set up their whole stage and everything went quiet. Everyone was dead scilent when they were performing and you could see how they affected the whole audience. Behind me there was a guy who said :"every person with a heart pacemaker is calibrated and synchronized now." That dumed it up pretty good. I really think that my heart beat was in the same rythm as everyone elses after that.
Bought tickets a year in advance to go see them in Phoenix. Got stoned AF before it started. They came out burning incense and when the first drum beat landed it was like i dropped into another dimension. Highly recommend paying whatever they charge to see them live. Its life changing. Nothing will prepare you for the power that rips through you when this is all amplified right in your face.
I hadn’t seen this live video, but the official music video for this song is magical. I’ve also had the Lifa live concert in my music library for a while now.
This was recorded at Hammersmith Apollo in January 2023. It was filmed for a future commercial LIFA DVD/Blu-Ray release, but there's still no release date, yet. I was there.
Saw them in Melbourne, Australia and I’d see them again in a heartbeat if they returned! You felt the music literally through your body… just something else!! The crowd stomped on the floorboards at certain warrior chants and shook the place. Amazing the say the least.
Got tickets to see them in Amsterdam this September. The night before at the same venue we're seeing Epica (Symphonic Synergy w/ Orchestra & Choir). Cannot wait!
I am so happy that you did this reaction I wish that you would have done the video for this song but it is good either way and that circle you were talking about is to depict a solar eclipse. They dont call there perfomances a concert they call them rituals and for good reason lol.I like all of your reactions very much
Another Song I can really recommend is the Funeral Song 'Helvegen' (the Live Version by Aurora & Wardruna)...is also available with English subtitles🥰🦇🥰 Greets from Germany
I've been to a couple of live performances with Heilung. First of all, their music is like nothing i can compare it to, it's engaging in a very deep and almost primal way, engaging all human emotions. Second their live perfomance isn't realy a concert, but rather more like ritual. I don't know if it's just me, but it realy feels like i've been in deep meditation, efter their performance, drained but at the same time also deeply refreshed.
The power and overall beauty and presence of the song renders me utterly speechless every time and I actually get really emotional listening to this song in particular
This song on a great set of headphones or speakers is just magical as it bounces back and forth to create a beautiful balance. I listen to this at night to decompress when a long day at work has happened.
Since I started listening to Heilung a year ago, I have found so many amazing viking/folk music groups like Eivor, Wardruna, Heldom, SKALD, Danheim, OTYKEN, The Hu, Nini Music and so many others.
I saw them two nights before this was filmed in Manchester uk. The circle behind Maria is Blot the living drum. It carries the blood of Maria, Chris, and Kia. Im honoured to have attended two rituals
The word you wanted was primal. It taps you in with your primal. And we normally associate that with negative things. Here it taps you into the positive feeling of your primal history.
You'd probably love the official video; it tells the story of Anoana, a 'land warrior' from birth to merging with her spirit animal (I think?). It's a beautiful video that always gives me chills. This live version is also gorgeous! I have mobility issues, so I haven't gotten to see them live.
I don't want to claim that this is metal but philosophically speaking it comes close to it. I think metal is really a genre where intense emotions are represented in the form of music. Most metal music depicts emptions like anger fear hatred sadness or frustration. Which are all valid and important emotions even if they are mostly negative. But they have positive aspects to them. For example anger can be used to beat fear. If you are afraid of something, scream at it and fill your mind with anger and you'll be able to fight that fear. This is a very powerfull tool. Anyways. This band shows me an emotion i teally didn't know until i saw them. I font know how to call this emotion but i'd describe it as beautiful pride in my ancestors. Love for the people that lived thousands of years ago, fighting for their survival so that we can live.
Yep, I saw them live last year for the first time and it went into my TOP 3 live concerts that I've ever seen... like no hesitation. :D It's something incredible... The thing is, you cannot capture the atmosphere on the video... You have to be there. I've been to many concerts (mostly rock and metal) and let me tell you, Heilung is something different. If you have a chance then definitelly go.
One of the very, VERY few bands that bring people of different cultures, beliefs, ancestries (etc) together. POWERFUL collective (I just can't call them a "band") The "official" music video gives the story to the song and is STUNNING! (an understatement). Basically the lyrics come from runes on bracteate coins from the "Migration Period" of Europe. Apparently, there is no easy translation. Like some have mentioned here, Warduna is another absolutely amazing band. Especially their song "Helvegen" Live with Aurora (the video with the red background on the stage).
Awesome reaction video ash happy Tuesday hope You had an amazing weekend my friend You're the best and I love you so so much for always making my day better with every reaction video you upload on RUclips 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I love your reactions. I was searching through your catalog and can't find any reactions to Jacob Collier. If you really haven't heard him, you are seriously missing out. I'd put him in the same class as Dimash and other world class singers.
By the Way, I don't think anyone understands the Lyrics without a translator...the Lyrics-like almost all of HEILUNG-are in proto Germanic (pre Viking).
I think no one knows what the lyrics mean, they're taken from old coins with writing on them, and I don't think anyone's been able to translate it, might just be nonsense : ) Some think they're protective spells.
The lyrics make no sense per se....it is taken from North Germanic and Scandinavian brakacts, gold coins used as jewelry with either warding spells or dedication to a god or like an example " he was Odins man" as a runic text with iconography. They where used between the 4th century AD to 7-8th century AD, in North Germania and Scandinavia

That instrument is called a tagelharpa. And while it is a bowed instrument it has a very unique sound.
And the strings are made from twisted horse hair (tagel=horse hair in Swedish)
I know it under the name Lyra, except that the strings are plucked from Lyra.

@@boris4493 Talharpa/Tagelharpa/hiiu kannel/stråkharpa is a bowed lyre, so maybe that is where you get that idea from.

Watch their concert film, LIFA. It features their very first live performance in 2017 at Castlefest. You will be blown away.
One of the best concerts I seen. So good

Heilung is unique and epic.
The video for Anoana is gorgeous
I've been obsessed with this woman's voice for about a year now. She's freaking INCREDIBLE!!! Heilung is incredible.
Saw them in Melbourne, Australia and I’d see them again in a heartbeat if they returned! You felt the music literally through your body… just something else!! The crowd stomped on the floorboards at certain warrior chants and shook the place. Amazing the say the least.
Oh boy Heilung are amazing 😍 glad you found them. Another is Wardruna who I absolutely love

One Year to like this Music...... 3 second.. 🥰..... This is Germanik and Nordik Musik and cult.... 😊
This music is primal!!!! Whether you know it or not, it reaches a level in you. Because we are all just animals, after all...
This performing act is amazing... I've never seen them live though.

Eivor is amazing. Try "Falling Free" and "Trodlabundin"
@@johnwilliams575 Will do! Thanks!

The music video for this song is as visually stunning as the song is captivating. I recommend checking it out as well.
Pure magic!
I got to see them live and it’s life changing
Amazing live version , Maria is dynamically stunning❤
Maria is a pagan shaman ! .......btw, the band makes their costumes and many of their instruments.......Heilung="Healing".......
This song is amazing. I've only seen the official video before (another piece of art), but this was special. Thank you for your very cool reaction.
a pleasure as always. just a small note. ren dropped a new one. once again its genius. look forwards to your review
I recommend watching the music video. It adds more emotion in the story it tells. The video is beautiful and I highly recommend it!

Feels like Sigur Ros to me, a lot of emotion and real care over the elements in a wall of sound. Must be a Scandinavian thing.
I attended my first (hopefully there will be many more) Heilung Ritual last November. Do not turn down any opportunity, it is absolutely incredible.
