Acabo de hacer este arroz para un evento en la iglesia y me quedo delicioso, suelto y perfecto. Es la primera vez que hago arroz para mucha gente. Gracias por tus instructions Chef.
I just wanted to say thank you for this video !! ❤️ my first time cooking in 5months ( got lazy lol ) & it came out perfect on the first try ❤️ your teaching & the way you explain is super helpful ☝🏼
I always do 4 cups of water 2 cups of rice, med heat, once water dissolves i turn it lower heat on low cover with foil and lid 20 minute, turn again and fluff with fork and boom
You're welcome! The chicken bouillon cube gives the rice a nice subtle chicken flavor. I use that instead of salt from time to time just to change it up. :)
Followed your instructions & the came out well. However, it still got Brown on the bottom. My wife and I enjoyed your oxtails stew recipe, however, it was more of a soup then a stew. Also, congratulations on your engagement. Your probably married by now. From one native New Yorker (now residing in New Jersey) to another. Felicidades y Happy Easter.
Thank you for this recipe!! It worked for me this time because the trick was the foil and lid. My lids have a steam valve and the foil blocked all the steam in. I used the 2 cup rice and 2 and quarter cup water ratio because my glass cooktop cooks things very fast and gets hot so that worked perfectly when I boiled everything first then steamed with the foil and lid. Thank you!! 😊🌈
Hola, you definitely need to know your stove and watch your rice closely. Also like the technique of using the Aluminum foil to seal in the steam and improving the seal of the lid.
I made this rice yesterday it came out perfect so good! My grandmother use to take fry tocino in the oil and cooked her rice with it inside. I dunno if you ever tried it but if you do and like it please make a video. I don’t remember 100% how she did it 😑😑😑😑
Thank you so much for watching! Aluminum foil trick is a tip I learned from the women in my family. Everytime I forget to do it, I swear my rice takes forever to cook! lol
I love this video. If I wanted to make a larger serving. Let's say to feed 6-8 people, is it six cups of water and six cups of rice? Please forgive me as I am a newbie at cooking😂😅.
Hello so when the water boils you throw the rice in there and wait for the water to leave ? Once it looks gone you stir and lower your temp to the lowest setting and cover it?
I'm a game of thrones watcher (haven't delved into the books) so I had to look it up.. I'm gonna keep your knowing your stove thing in mind.. I'll try the foil thing.. never seen my parents do that 😇... pero se trata .. I'll Be Honest El arroz 😅 I never mastered.. Pasta- I got. Love Your Tutorials.. Keep informing y Sigue enseñando 🇩🇴🇩🇴
Love all your videos, keep the good work. I really Hope I can get a answer from you today, but I have two questions, how many pounds of rice I need for 25 people and how many pounds of beans I can use for the same amount of people?
What brand is the rice? I like how clean and white the rice looks. Please guide me, I am learning and want to get the correct good rice. I am a Dominican man as well.
Nice job Zee. 👍 Some really good tips here. Will definitely try this. I guess I'm going to name my stove Craster,...cuz it's cold and cranky! Looking forward to trying your Pernil recipe.
I use basmati or jasmine rice, which has to be cooked at 2:1 ratio with coconut oil -or butter if I’m making jasmine) and oooh it’s so yummy but leaves me craving con-con. I get sometimes by accident but I stopped trying because I’m not wasting money. lol Any tips on how to get that same result from basmati or jasmine?
thanks. I use long grain rice too but make it differently. It seems that everyone makes their rice differently with the same results. I use 2 cups water to one cup long grain rice.
I set my stove on medium bc it’s a hot stove, I let the water dry up and it burned the bottom, luckily I was standing right there during the process the entire time, or else I would’ve had smoked rice. So next time, I’m going to either lower the temp or stir once so it won’t burn during the drying up process. I normally don’t make rice this way, but I wanted to experiment.
geewhiz747 No. Just be mindful of the temperature of your stove just like she mentioned. My mom who’s the best cook I know burnt the rice she made on my stove and the time time before that the rice didn’t cook enough before it absorbed all the water. She is used to gas stoves.
I am using canola oil but vegetable or corn oil will also work. You can even use olive oil but this will slightly change the taste of your rice since olive oil has its own unique yet delicious taste. :)
The perfect white rice is all about using a 1:1 ratio which means that you use the same amount of water and rice. So if you're making rice for about 1-3 people, you can use one cup of rice and one cup of water. 2 cups of rice is good for 4+ people. Bear in mind that depending on your stove and pots, you may have to slightly adjust the ratio. I hope this helps!
I also add garlic powder or whole garlic cloves to my water before adding the rice, gives it an extra yummy taste.

You are so welcome!
That’s exactly how my father taught me how to do rice, like step by step, the exact same way
I always do 4 cups of water 2 cups of rice, med heat, once water dissolves i turn it lower heat on low cover with foil and lid 20 minute, turn again and fluff with fork and boom
If I did that it would be to wet, I like equañ parts or 1/4 more of water as illustrated here.
I never thought to add a bouillon cube! I'll try that. Thanks 💐
You're welcome! The chicken bouillon cube gives the rice a nice subtle chicken flavor. I use that instead of salt from time to time just to change it up. :)
Yes indeed 👍

What kind of rice is the best to use? I usually use plain long grain but always fail, should I try this with jasmine or stick to long grain?

Hello so when the water boils you throw the rice in there and wait for the water to leave ? Once it looks gone you stir and lower your temp to the lowest setting and cover it?
I also used "Better Than Bouillon", for dry powder and that worked pretty well.
what brand of white rice are you using ?? LOOKS AWSOME!

Good job girl! Good video.
can you make a video about making white rice / jasmine rice in the instant pot?
What rice brand do you recommend using ?
Can you please do a white rice in an Aroma rice cooker machine?!?!😊
I use basmati or jasmine rice, which has to be cooked at 2:1 ratio with coconut oil -or butter if I’m making jasmine) and oooh it’s so yummy but leaves me craving con-con. I get sometimes by accident but I stopped trying because I’m not wasting money. lol
Any tips on how to get that same result from basmati or jasmine?
It's good to sometimes focus on the basics. Great stuff!!
+xingcat back to basics is anyways great. Thanks for watching!
GREAT VIDEOS!
What kind of oil do you use vegetable oil? Also what name brand do you prefer in oil
After bring the rice to a boil, you cook it uncovered on medium heat for 20 minutes or so?
Can you make a coconut white rice recipen
what size rice? long grain, short grain, medium grain?
+Selenia Rivas-Sharma i used long grain white rice
thanks. I use long grain rice too but make it differently. It seems that everyone makes their rice differently with the same results. I use 2 cups water to one cup long grain rice.
Selenia Rivas-Sharma I do that to what did she use
What if I have extra long grain canilla rice, should I do it the same exact way?
I do
What kind of pots are you using??

Can you tell us which type of rice is best to use
I like to use long grain white rice.
Who's watching in 2020
Thanks to you I don't make mushy rice anymore.
While it's boiling do I cover it?????????
How do I do this with the instant pot?
So 3 cups of water for 3 cups of rice??
Yep!!! This is right!!!
Do y’all seriously not know how to make white rice? I’m dead 😂
This time you could have shown the Concon that was left in the pan...
+Xena Hercule thats going to be its own separate video 😊 I'm going to upload that next week.
Omg this was an epic fail for me 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Oh no!!! Sorry to hear that! White rice can be tricky. You really have to get to know your stove and your pots.
Your right 👍
What type of stove do you have electric or gas? Depending on the pot and stove it does make a difference.
What if you have an electric stove? Does that affect the ratio?
geewhiz747 No. Just be mindful of the temperature of your stove just like she mentioned. My mom who’s the best cook I know burnt the rice she made on my stove and the time time before that the rice didn’t cook enough before it absorbed all the water. She is used to gas stoves.
Cooking oil or olive oil ?
Where the con con at? 😂
What oil are you using chef zee?
I am using canola oil but vegetable or corn oil will also work. You can even use olive oil but this will slightly change the taste of your rice since olive oil has its own unique yet delicious taste. :)
What if you’re using a rice cooker?
Why do you wash rice?
Is this long or medium
This is long grain white rice
I use 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice
White rice 1:1 hmmm...
This is going to be a trial and error method for me. I’m following your directions but the rice keeps coming out not quite done.
Does the brand matter???
I usually go for a long grain rice. Carolina Rice is my go to rice. Otherwise, any long grain white rice should do
what about morrow how ? lol
I have never washed the rice.
Do it!!! It helps make the rice fluffy :)
No measurements :( ????
