When this song comes on you just can't sit still, one of the best tunes on the Northern circuits
Shows the great innovation and skill of the original song writers and ..... what a performance from Natalie Palmer. Love it......
Totally agreed this girl can sing !
What a beautiful talent❤❤
What a night, Absolutely fantastic. Above time the BBC got it spot on. STOP THE POLITICS. Lets have more of my youth 😊😂😅🎉🎉🎉xxx❤
Absolutely , it`s a shite world we live in .
One of my all time favourite songs - perfectly delivered.
Fantastic performance of a classic. Thank you Stuart Maconie for putting this show together. Congrats to the 'band' too, great arrangements.DO IT AGAIN (AND AGAIN) PLEASE
Fab
Happy days ✌️
The orchestra were tight on this brilliant music
Natalie is beautiful!
You still are
Brilliant version excellent backing from a world class orchestra.
Finally something worth my licence fee
Great song beautifully done - actually thoroughly enjoyed the whole show - only wish I’d gone to the RAH
Brilliant 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Fantastic Friday night ritual greek goddess happy time❤😊
WHAT can I say when I still LOVE you - WHAT can I DO when I still WANT you?
What do you think of this version? And the soft cell version. Just interested really
Brill gotta have more of this Surely… 😎
It's great to see people loving and listening to this music after all this time. I dj'd at all the Golden Torch all nighters in 1972...I was 17 years of age. I very been to every venue since without a break, and dj'd at most of them. I feel a sense of belated achievement that 'we were right all along', this music really means something.....Power to the people!!
Nice to see you are still going John ,great music ,great times,(Edgy).
Means something. you mean it means everything.
@johnbeggs9669......I was lucky enough to go to the Torch from late '72 - and was even there the night it got raided and closed down! Best all-nighter I ever went to - by far! Pissed all over Wigan.
The atmosphere and dancers were incredible, and I only wish I could have got to go there more. [I was only 16 at the time - and lived near Stourbridge, so travelling was always a problem]. Thanks for all the great memories, John!
Once northern is in your blood its there for life
Brilliant. Enjoyed watching the whole show on tv last weekend.
Just magic.
That first long note, wow fantastic❤❤
well done
At last real quality on the BBC lets hope they learn from the response to this.
what a voice and what a babe think i'm in love!!!
Love love love this x needs an official single release x with a 7”vinyl special edition with the original on the other side xx would be great
Is that a Bobby Hebb comment ??✌️✌️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great version and wonderful orchestration. Not quite Judy Street but an amazing tribute.
Better than Soft Cell tho
A million times better than Soft Cell's version
@@malcolmcharman4686 The times I have heard that people think Soft Cell's version is the Original ???
I actually adore the Judy Street version !!
@@banyera The Judy Street version is a cover of the original by Melinda Marx
@@kjb40 Will check that one out THX
KTF LOVE THIS SONG
Exactly!!!!!
Superb
Definitely in my top 10 all time Northern soul tunes. Just unfortunate that she made a few mistakes with the lyrics but still a great version of an absolute classic. KTF ✊
Fave NS song. Judy street
😁🎶❤✊ Thank you 👍...Thank You Lord✝️ for the Tingles 🙏❤✝️
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oooooo❤
play this at 1.25 speed for that little bit of crazyness... KTF
Quality, not quite as good as original. It shows how timeless and popular northern soul is, it will always be there I've been into it 45 years.
We could have just asked Judy to perform this one...
Orchestra were good.
Judy classic
kk can we get the original ??
oof the cam scan saw it right there..ppl looking bored / or else where
What amazes me is virtually no credit to the scooter rallies that have kept northern going ..as per the proms best thing bbc have done for yonks..ktf.lambretta a way of life
Whilst this is one of my favourite northern soul songs, I felt that this performance didn't do it justice, particularly as the lyrics weren't correct in places. I also felt that Natalie Palmer's voice would be more suited to "traditional soul" rather than Northern soul, at least for this song and her part in "Do I love you" later in the show.
Elsewhere in the comments someone mentioned the Orchestra playing a little too fast, for this song, which may have prevented Natalie breathing correctly for the song.
Overall, I particularly enjoyed the whole show, and I am going to search out some more of Natalie Palmer's performances in order to give her a fair chance. 😉
awe ffs yet another screecher
tbf ..not fan of natalie
terrible vocals.
I think the problem here was that the orchestra got a bit over enthusiastic and played this number slightly too fast. It seemed to me that Natalie occasionally didn't have enough breath to put the right amount of clarity and passion behind some of the lines.
@@alanmunro888I dont think her voice was strong enough.
So - thousands in the Albert Hall dancing, smiling, cheering, great appause with more cheering at the end, the audience clearly enjoyed the track. Dozens of positive comment on this and other posts, but apparently you know better 🤔
@@olymartin that's irrelevant . Her voice is weak and god knows why they chose her.
Wow fantastic love it
Sad how northern has gone main stream..
You mean nobody but a few thousand people 'up North' should be allowed to listen and enjoy Northern Soul, eventually having it fade into non-existence as all the original fans died out? Disco, Punk, House and many other music genres also started out as 'underground' music forms. Should only the original fans be able to listen to them as well?
Mainstream? Are any northern soul tracks in the current top 50?
All Music is for anyone . North , South, East , West. Come on everybody .🥂
Not always a good thing this show was Top stuff
@@olymartin I have seen Archie Bell and the Drells, here I go again labelled as NS,yet I am a Southerner and bought the 45 when it came out,........?
