When you realize how young Teddy Riley was during his hey day itll make you rethink everything. When you realize he started out making all this amazing music in the projects while living in the projects of NY in the 80s....::mind blown::
This was really awesome. I really enjoyed watching and listening to #TeddyRiley speak. I've always loved his work since high school when I purchased my first Black Street record.
oooohh yes yes yes my eyes opened up real wide as soon as I spotted this on my youtube page and I'm absolutely making myself a popcorn right now for this one!
Teddy Riley's music is really inspiring, and he's even more inspiring as a person! I agree that this has been one of the best episodes of Pensado's Place so far.
Great Teddy Riley interview. Thank U Pensado's Place. I never get tired of hearing how his music comes together and the people that he has been blessed to produce. He's an incredible inspiration and an innovator. When Quincy Jones calls you to produce someone, it's like being called by God. The music industry needs TR - He keeps our head bobbing (the neck knows). :-) Music changes so much and producers come and go, but it feels good to know that Mr. Riley is still in the mix. Peace and Blessings always
wow Teddy Did all that music when i was growing up and it can still rock in the club. Thanks guys for this Interview i learned alot. DJ MICKEY (Trinidad and Tobago)
Man I love Pensado's Place!!! If I can speak for all young aspiring producers/mixers/engineers/artists out there, we all thank Dave and Herb for putting this information online to share with us. We could only imagine the time and effort it took for you to acquire the skills and knowledge over the years and for that, we are truly grateful...THANK YOUUUU!!!! :-)
Teddy Riley is a living legend and has no signs of stopping or losing the touch. A true inspriration for anybody doing what we all do. Such a lovely guy too, shows the kids you don't have to be an abrasive "G" to be in the game. Everybody on this show does that actually. Would be amazing to see him work for just one day! Big up's Pensado's, best interview for ages!
Very inspirational. Exceptionally talented individual is an understatement. Thanks Teddy for sharing for your story and your incredible gift with the world. Love Pensado's Place, as this is the only place that you find this type of quality material
I'm kinda embarrassed to say I've never heard of this man until today, but I DEFINITELY know so much of his work and this is so inspiring! These dudes behind the scenes make everything happen. Much respect to this OG for being humble and inspirational. Love.
u guys are just the best, and represent everything that's good about the industry. I've been watching for a couple of years now and every time I learn something new, thank you for all the knowledge you have shared and props for presenting it with true coolness, no ego and a pure love for the craft, we appreciate u for it
WOW WOW WOW did i say WOW. What a show. thank you pensado family...... please have Mr Riley do an ITL..this episode was like a hit of CRACK. MORE PLEASE....

INSPIRATIONAL AS FUCK YO!!!!!! SO MUCH INSPIRATION HAS BEEN INJECTED INTO MY VEINS!!! THESE PEEPS ALWAYS BE DROPPING KNOWLEDGE ON US!!!!! CREATE, INSPIRE, REPEAT!!!!!! SHOUT OUT PENSADO & HERB!!! YEEEEHHH
Beyond all that insane amount of talent and achievement, what an inspirational human being. So down-to-earth, humble, gracious, easy with advice and anecdotes, and always has good things to say.
It was the third album that he mixed on the Euphonix. I remember how heavy the SSL was to get out of the A room. It was at least six of us I think maybe nine all together with the guys from the moving company
@MrJgreat. & @Marcos Council. NEWS ALERT: There's absolutely NOTHING WRONG (or problematic) with Windows based PC's for music production. Apple/Mac's are over-priced Chinese technology. (Research: "FoxConn China") You can custom-configure a dedicated music production Windows based PC for 60% of the cost of a Mac (or LESS). AND it will run steadily for YEARS.
Nasty is officially the first released NJS and J&L were also influenced by the DC go-go artists and james brown. Grace Jones 1985 STTR is an example of pre-NJS. Teddy claims the demos he was making in 1984 while still in high school were NJS.
If u listen to the first Keith Sweat, GUY, "Just Got Paid" by Johnny Kemp, BLACKSTREET, JANE CHILD's "I Don't Wanna Fall In Love, (all from teh late 80s/Early 90s, All Produced By TEDDY RILEY, none of those records sound like Jam & Lewis!! Jam & Lewis' sound was dubbed "THE MINNEAPOLIS SOUND." It was an extension of their mentor, PRINCE's, sound.
Teddy Riley has a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star - watch the video on youtube :) Too bad the new music styles are so boring and repetitive, almost nothing original

Teddy Riley's music is really inspiring, and he's even more inspiring as a person! I agree that this has been one of the best episodes of Pensado's Place so far.
When I was young, Heavy D's *Now That We've Found Love* was so impactful. Teddy was the reason why.

I would certainly argue that Jam & Lewis invented NJS. Now THAT would make a great episode.
Nasty is officially the first released NJS and J&L were also influenced by the DC go-go artists and james brown. Grace Jones 1985 STTR is an example of pre-NJS. Teddy claims the demos he was making in 1984 while still in high school were NJS.

Jam & Lewis followed Teddy with NJS. They say it so themselves!
