If you had the box manufactured, I would buy one. The drawer sliding out for the watercolor palette is brilliant. I admire your talent and LOVE watching you paint. I have learned a lot from your videos.
Thank you for sharing this! I am definitely gonna make one for myself! It looks so comfortable! 😍
Thank you for this man, you definitely showed us that we can make our own art tools that serves our very specific drawing needs.
Thank you. Some very good ideas. I just want to make the interior a little deeper so it can store a 9" X 12" Bristol Pad.
I still have the wooden box from one of those "deluxe art sets" I received as a kid. I was thinking of turning it into a portable lap desk, and your video gave me some good ideas.
Your beautiful environments bring me calm, Mateusz, and I need to feel inner calm to be able to draw/paint outside. In the last few years I’ve rarely felt that way enough, but now I got excited about sketching outside again. If I do venture to sketch outside in Tokyo in this season, I’ll wear a few layers of clothing to not get the sniffles.
I’ve been thinking how to comfortably sketch outside on a windy day for example, as well as how to keep my tools handy - so seeing your creative setup is really inspiring! Thank you for sharing the process - never even thought it’s possible to make my own portable table, but now I’ll be considering it. Your tool use is a few levels above what I have experience with, but now I’m imagining even more advanced accomodations like fixing the sketchbook to the board with magnets. Though I suppose on a windy day you could just use some masking tape to fix the sketchbook’s top page to the board.
Or you could have a bigger rubber band to snap your block to your board. PS I had 4 layers, including a heat-tech shirt and still was cold >< I can walk or even climb mountains in winter but sitting or standing without moving makes me cold very fast :)
What a great pochade for watercolour! Thank you for this. I'd love one! Have you used your mushishi box much? Would love to watch an "after 4 years of using the mushishi box" video (plus I would LOVE to see it in use again).
I must build it asap!
You are just the sweetest person I know! Thank you so much for the incredible art, soothing voice and beautiful aesthetic!😊
Thank you! :)
You can use some wax from a candle to make the drawers slide better. Just rub the edges with the candle!
I love the mini brass bar clamps that I saw around 3:50
Wow, I would love to have something like this, too 😍 I also need the comfort of hard surface and don’t want to stand while drawing/painting 😍
Nice sharing
That looks like a really comfortable and practical setup, I imagine it'll come into its own in spring with trips to the botanical gardens to view the blossom.
This is beautiful Mateusz.
I often dream of one day making my own office space furniture and seeing how your DIY projects are performing is giving me a bit more of motivation to pursue building my own space.
Hopefully we can see more outside sketching when it gets warmer
Stay safe,
No proszę Jak Adam Slodowy 😄 świetny pomysł 👍🏻
Wow!!!!! Fantastic video. I remembered you wanted to improve your landscape drawing and I got tears in my eyes. I love the way you draw trees. 🥰
Wow.... I would love to have this wonderful portable easel! ....simple yet functional , a very neat design that makes painting a lot more enjoyable ❤️
I found you in my 3rd year of art school (I graduated college already😀) When I was having my life painting classes. maybe 2013 or 2014
while clicking on the stumble upon button
I know its really late but thank you for sharing these videos. This chanell helped me with that class
thank you 😘
This is soooo amazing 😢 i really admire your effort to craft this tool, it must be suuuper rewarding experience, i loved how it turned out, congrats!
About drawing outside, i never tried it, but this video made me think. Drawing something is truly observing something with attention, and i think it means you also appreciate it and internalize it more. And i cant compliment enough your personal touch/style and how much love you put into your craft. ❤🙌
well, now theres one more thing to add to my list of future projects. man this is so cool.
i genuelly want to make one, just the thought that you make a homemade easel with ought any power tools is pretty cool.
That was fun. Love the whimsical sketch.
Excellent and inspiring as always. Thank you.
Another well thought out, well executed project.
Ohhhh I so want to make one too!! (although I'm the most clumsy person when I try to do any DIY ahah). Thank you for sharing, it's a fab idea =)
Do It Yourself AND art. Does it get any better than this? Awesome!
It turned out pretty good, I bet it was super fun to make.
Nice work. Love the box, very useful.
와 정말 잘 만드셨네요!! 갖고 싶어요~ 제작해서 판매하신다면 구매하고 싶네요~^^
that's actually so cool!!! looks really neat, i love the stickers on it as well
What a beautiful inspiring content! Thank you so much you always give me the energy to draw more ✨🤍
This sketching desk looks awesome! :D Thank you so much for sharing all the details
Amazing ! I need this 😆
hey mateusz! i was wondering if you could share the measurements of the wooden planks? im looking to possibly making one myself but I have no clue where to start hahah!
Thanks.
Muy bonita la verdad.... Is a beautiful
That is a beautiful box! :D I also love the tiger sticker. May I ask you where you got it?
This one I got from the Papier Tigre shop in Tokyo. But I think it was their like anniversary thing rather than a sticker that was sold.
Nice box! What a laquer you use?
If only I could make my own...
Have a look if there is a rental DIY space or a DIY community where you live! 👍
Can you share the sizes of the box so I can try to make one too for myself
this turned out awesome! did you have any trouble with the drawers on the side flying open as you walked since they werent secured?
I added two little flaps on the lid so when the lid is closed the drawers will not come out 👍
Well done! Looks like a very practical box. Are you entirely satisfied, or are there things you would have done differently after the field test?
I am thinking a bit about making a plein air setup myself. Was considering using a camera tripod I have lying around, but your design definitely has its merits.
Ah well I have some time to muse it over, it's getting really wintery here in Iceland, so not very attractive to go outside and sketch at the moment....
I would make the top of the box (not the lid, but of the bottom part to which the block are glued) a bit thicker maybe so it doesn't sink, but that's it!
@@mattjabbar Thanks for the reply!
I'm really curious.. what camera is that 4:40 🤔.. btw i absolutely love the docomo calendar painting series.. it inspires me to work on environment paintings🤩✨
It's Kana's Panasonic Lumix GM1 it's very small and light, I have the GX1 which is older but has more hands-on dials, etc.
What kind of watercolour paper did you use in this video?
What are the measurements of your box? It came out very cute 🥰
37 x 30 x4.5cm when closed I think the size is just right for it to be usable and have enough storage space but not too big and bulky. Thank you!
