Hello Teacher Mike, I am a Chinese woman living in Germany. I am a teacher and I teach German to the refugees in Germany. I deal with refugees who have come to Germany legally or illegally every day. You'll see the RCMP on the Canadian side and the U.S. border patrol car on the American side. Despite the absence of a wall, authorities monitor both sides of the road for illegal crossings.^^
The government does need to pay more effort and attention on legal immigrant process. The current situation is way too unfair for the people who follow the rules. I’m a naturalized Chinese American and my wife is Chinese. I started her fiancé petition since late 2020. Switched to spouse petition in 2022. Although we got immigration approval just recently, she’s still waiting for the interview scheduling at consulate and probably won’t be here until the end of this year. There’s too much bureaucracy and incompetence involved within the DHS and immigration system.
the biggest problem is they just let people who has no document whatsoever in while if people want to do it the right way, it takes decades and basically go through a lottery system to get a visa, green card, let alone citizen ship. Immigrants are good (in general), but there should be system in place.
The US should change their policy first. If you don’t have legal documents you can’t apply drivers license and your kids can’t register schools. Those illegal ppl are way too comfortable can even apply medical benefits without paying anything. This is unfair to ppl who actually work hard here

I am a little confused here, since Michael 老师 a US Citizen, why did your wife get a tourist Visa B2? Is it difficult to get a sponsorship for her as a PR or Green Card in the US? Or she is waiting for her Green Card? I am just out of curiosity, cause my hub as Canadian sponsored me to Canada, and landed as PR directly.
She probably did not apply to the green card while they were in China. Maybe their initial plan was to stay in China. So at the time of leaving China she must have a visa to enter the us.
She needs a green card or visa to enter the US but green card application takes a long time even for spouse of US citizens and during the application she can’t apply for other visas without immigration intentions.

There is a lot more than 12 or 13 million illegals in the US. There were 11 million back in 1996, when they stopped counting. Best estimates, there are 25-30 million illegals and overstayers in the US recently (and no idea at the crime rates, but one crime is too many when committed by those who shouldn't be in the US).
