I like high end audio and in the age of streaming we need to protect Hi-Fi benchmarks but podcasting doesn't require such quality. Some "audiophiles" are crazy about their setup - £1000 for a turntable stylus or £1000 a meter for speaker cable - its all there for the sucker. Once I bet a audio fan friend that if I broke into his house and swapped out his speaker cable for mains cable, he wouldn't be able to tell the difference. He said he would but of course I never broke into his house.
