    I ordered mine for podcasting on the run. I also have the L-8 mixer/recorder that I have on my desk in my studio. I also have the H4n Pro Recorder. I also bought the Zoom ZDM-1 microphone headphones Kit for my mixer.

      Do you like the L8? The H4n is a very underrated device. I used one for many years and recorded many pro projects using mine. My workflow is bigger than it’s capabilities now but I still think highly of it.
      I’m torn between the Rodecaster Pro II and the Tascam Mixcast 4 to go on my desk.

      @@soundjustlikeapro I love my L8. For what I do, I didn’t need to spend the money on the Rode Procaster when the L8 does what I need.

    Thank you for your review. Why do you say it won't work for video podcasts? In my case I'd be recording video with sony A6400, recording audio separatedly with the P4 and editing with Davinci Resolve. Thank you!

      Thanks for reaching out! The sample rate is only 44.1, which is the traditional sample rate for audio only. The sample rate for sound for video is traditionally at least 48k. It might not be a problem. Most editing software can probably pull it in with no issues. I guess the fact that you can see video in this review with sound that is recorded from the unit should prove my theory about it not being ok completely wrong. If you want to give it a shot, try it out. If it works for you, keep it :)

    Question: I am using my laptop, and I want to know how can I record audio and music at the same time with this device? Is it possible? +for my podcast ++

    • @soundjustlikeapro
      @soundjustlikeapro  2 года назад

      Hey! Thanks for reaching out. I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking if you can get music from your computer to the device? I don’t see why you couldn’t run it in through the usb channel in the same way that the USB channel brings in sound from Skype/Zoom calls. You could also assign intro music and such to the 4 touch pads if you’d like. There’s also going analogue from the computer with a 3.5” “Y” cable from the headphone jack of the computer to a stereo LR input on channel 3 and 4 of the Podtrak.

    • @soundjustlikeapro

      @@TheRealServonteEphriam ok cool. I would try the 1st or 3rd option from my answer. It will probably come in through the USB channel, channel 4 on the Podtrak. If that doesn’t work, you could do a 3.5mm to dual 1/4” and go into channel 3 and 4. I hope this helps. Good luck! What’s your podcast? I’ll subscribe to it.

    Nice review. I have looked at a few and you touched on few things that gave me pause that none of the others touched upon.
    What I’d like to know is if it has outs to speakers or to a mixer.
    I play music for instance but would like to incorporate some calls. Presumable my mixer can be used in one of the mic inputs of the p4 which can be hooked to pc and broadcast live but on my end, is the out to speakers/.monitor.
    Another way I guess would be if the p4 has outs to my mixer which would be better for me because I’ll be able to fine tune the audio from my mixer’s EQ which the p4 lacks.

      Hey. Thanks for reaching out! What did I talk about that others didn't? Just curious.
      The only line outs that is has are the headphone jack outputs. I'm not sure I understand your routing scenario but I do know that, if I were routing anything, it would split before it got to this unit. I wound up returning mine. I just couldn't do it. I do any sort of remote zoom calls or remote podcasting with my F8n Pro.
      I'm looking into the Tascam Mixcast 4 next for a dedicated podcast mixer.

      Not being able to adjust mic settings on fly m(no EQ)for one and the master bus routing.
      So I do a music program online but I use a DJ mixer specifically the Denon DN-x1600 and a pioneer SBDJ3.
      The SBDJ3 goes into the mixer and all of that out to pc/net via external sound card but I’m able to monitor with a pair of lil Bose but of course I am also connected to powered speakers.
      I would like to have interviews and keep this set up so was wondering if there was an out to rca to route the audio from the PodTrak to my mixer?
      I may be over thinking it.
      If I ran my mixer out to a mic in on PodTrak and use its sound card, that probably would work. I was just worried about being able to hear my speakers but should still hear them and perhaps even use the headphone jock for that mic for my monitor speakers.
      Thank You

    how do i remove background noise

    • @soundjustlikeapro
      @soundjustlikeapro  Год назад

      Thanks for reaching out! I'm not sure what you mean by "background noise" as that term means many things. If its white noise, that is done in gain staging with the proper microphone and placement technique. If it's environment, there's a lot of ways to treat that. What is "Background Noise" to you?

    Can I use a guitar or keyboard with this device?

    • @soundjustlikeapro

      Not easily. The XLR jacks are just XLR and not the combination jacks.

      @@soundjustlikeapro Ok, so If I have a 1/4 to xlr lead it should work?

    • @soundjustlikeapro
      @soundjustlikeapro  Год назад +2

      @@bernidre if it were me, I would use a DI Box. Most 1/4” to XLR cables are TRS on the 1/4” side. I don’t think that will play nicely with your guitar output. Also, if it’s just an XLR inputs, it’s probably set for a Low signal and the forced line input could overdrive the preamps. A DI Box should do the trick.
      Even a simple one like this would do the trick.

      @@bernidre You’re welcome. I’m always happy to help. If you don’t mind going up in budget, the Mixcast 4 by Tascam has combination jacks. I might get one soon myself and put up a review. I’ve had my eye on that one for a while. If you don’t need an actual podcast mixer, the Zoom F3 is a good little unit as well with combination jacks.

    Best regards. Why don't the sounds of the pads come out in the final mix that arrives on USB, Ch4? Neither does the interlocutor hear them in a phone call via Ch3? Note: in hearing aids you can hear. Could it be that this equipment came damaged?

    • @soundjustlikeapro
      @soundjustlikeapro  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for reaching out. Mine did. I wound up selling mine and opted for the Rodecaster Pro II. I would say to make sure you have the volumes up on those channels to make sure that they make the final mix. In all of my testing, I used them and they did fine. I’m sorry. It is possible that it is damaged or just a setting that is off.
