Had there not been widespread outcry on EVMs, there could have been mischief. The agitation against EVM, the petitions in Supreme Court made the election machinery cautious and go in for fairness as mandated in constitution. People of India have shown maturity better than western democracies.
You can’t compare it with western democracy. In western countries the votes are through paper ballot.
