  • Ever wanted to have a whole city to yourself? well now you can!...as long as it is after 5pm.
Sunderland is a bustling little village during the day, but as soon as night falls (approx 16:37) the whole village begins packing up and shutting down, the blacksmiths, the carpenters and the innkeepers shut shop and head back home to their woodfired homes and have a hearty meal around their Telescreens, their wives ecstatic about the wares brought back from the day's hunt.
the sprogglings will one day follow in their father's footsteps, so this is an important time for the future generations of this distant land.

Honestly, if you manage to find a hotel room on the off chance that they aren't all full, I'd advise 2-3 weeks minimum, mainly for sightseeing and attractions, if you do stay longer, there lots of amenities such as the crowtree leisure centre and Joplings.

It’s a hidden gem, a glittering bubble, carpeted in exotic plants …

Many thanks for this comment Jacqueline,
Glad I could give you a little trip down memory lane,
I'm happy that you have fond memories of the place and the buildings /shops of the past, but honestly, like many towns and cities up here, it's felt like it's on its last legs for a few years, only recently it's looking a lot better and some interesting proposals for it's future (film Studios at Pallion and a massive gaming arena)
Cheers again for watching, hopefully I can make a few more videos that you come across,
      Cheers Jacqueline

Ahhh mate. Brings back so many memories, was there at 2005 onwards at uni. Many a times I would walk like that almost the same route. Back then there was Blu Bambu (later became the Beach), Glasspider, Infusion, the point, tonic, Diva, Chase, there was another one above Diva we used to go at 8pm when we started our night out.

Hey, yeah, it sounds like you were around during the good old times, now it's not even close to how it was sadly.
I believe you're talking about Varsity above diva.
I'm happy I could take you on a little memory trip with my video, hopefully you stumble across another one in future, I'll be doing a few.
      Regards man

Newcastle is just better and its not far to travel, Sunderland doesn't stand a chance, its sad, but that's how it is.
Train station might be nice soon though 😕

Sunderland. Town centre. Has sadly died a death. In the 70s and 80s. It was a great night out plenty of bars. One time you could start off at hylton road what we called the ski run from the willow pond. Then onto oddies. Then down to museum vaults. Onto the ship isis. Then into the town. Every bar would be packed. From 8pm. On friday and Saturday. Even synday night.

To be fair, once the people are all asleep, the place looks ok on video, not to be rude, because it's the good people of Sunderland that make the city what it is,... but they're just not that photogenic haha
I'll tune in brother, interested to hear.

Try making a video in Sunderland when there's people about and you'll understand why some people are put off though, loads of horrible remarks and rude comments, there's a couple in this video even.

Hello, I don't know much about student accommodation or benefits etc, but I do know that if you are from certain countries, you can receive many financial benefits and free housing.
You should check which benefits you are entitled to on the UK government website.
      Enjoy.

This isnt Sunderland this is the way it is now. Sunderland was a banging night out in the early 90s. So was S Shields. Even the bog Market isnt a patch on what it was. Welcome to the future. What a load of crap!

@@JordyShowWalks Na mate. It will never get back to that. This is post iphone / social media. Socializing is done on a phone now Back then right now the town would be bouncing. Cos you had no where else to be. Everyone knew or knew of everyone. If you liked a girl you just asked her out. etc etc. Much better
Never ever get that back. Its not what you build. It people are altered.
