Joan Mackenzie reviews Ask Not by Maureen Callahan

Hello I'm Joan and this book is called Ask Not by Maureen Callahan. It's subtitled the Kennedys and the women they destroyed. Joseph Kennedy was the founder and patriarch of the Kennedy dynasty and this book covers the years from that time all the way through to current generation where the Kennedy men have behaved unbelievably badly to the women who were unfortunate enough to come within their orbit. Now some of you watching this will know some of these names but we will by no means know them all because there are simply far too many. But if I were to say Jackie and Joan and Ethel, and Mary Jo Kopechne and Carolyn Bessette and Martha Moxley and Marilyn Monroe that gives you an idea of just how wide the scale of this behaviour has been. The Kennedys have managed to survive with this veneer of respectability. They've been able to use their wealth, and their connections and their ability to lie to absolve themselves from responsibility time and time again. What Maureen Callahan has done in this book is lay out exactly how they’ve behaved over the years and what the legacy of that has been. And I think she's done a public service.

She did this for the 25 anniversary of JFK jr plane crash that lead to his death that he caused along with the lives of carolyn and her sister lauren.
