    Chad... It is looking absolutely fantastic. What detail to workmanship. Thanks so much for the update!! My ole warhorse 65 J3 is only 220 N numbers off from yours. Also born Jan 1946

      COOL!!! 😁👍🏼 I have met sooo many Cub owners that has N numbers right close to mine. Two of them is within a couple numbers off and our Cubs where actually side by side in the factory. CRAZY HUH.

    I haven't ever seen a restoration like this. This is Museum quality. I've worked on everything from a Taylorcraft BC-12, to a B-1 bomber. But this is the most beautiful aircraft I've ever seen.

      So sorry so late seeing this. Not sure how I over looked the notification. But I greatly do appreciate the kind words. If you haven’t seen the latest video of me starting it up then you should watch it. I uploaded the video 4 weeks ago and as of now it’s gotten right at 88.6k views. 😯 It’s so AMAZING how fast it took off. 😁👌🏼 Thanks again for watching!

    Looking good👍🏼 Them two pieces along fuselage that cover hole for horizontal look good made of clear plexiglass so you can keep eye on jack screw and oil it easier.

    • @ColeAviation
      @ColeAviation  3 года назад +1

      The Jack Screw cover is made of .020 aluminum. The covers on the back ARE clear. From the factory they had aluminum covers there instead of clear plexiglass and the inspection holes were only on the one side but I wanted to put them on both sides for more excess to get to everything. Thanks for watching.

    Great work man. My first fixed wing lessons were in a J3 when I was 15 years old. I can remember flying that cub with the doors open. What great memory’s. Your series makes me want to buy a J-3 and follow your lead! Keep it up.

    You have done a great job!!!! I love this plane. We both know who would be very proud of you! Have you considered taking the spindle to a good machine shop and having it built put and machined back to specification? That way you will get to keep the original and as good as new condition. Just a thought. Keep up the good work! Gods Blessings!!

    • @ColeAviation
      @ColeAviation  3 года назад +1

      I greatly appreciate it your comment. And yes sir my Granddaddy would absolutely LOVE IT for SURE. as far as the tail wheel... my cousin is a Fantastic machinist but I don’t think this spindle/axle can be fixed because it has the grooves on too for the full casting tail wheel and that would be very hard to fix back if we tried fixing this one.

    • @PhillipHall01
      @PhillipHall01 3 года назад +2

      I didn't realize the grooves. I hope you find a replacement soon.. Keep up the good work!!!! 👍🏻

    Aren't you able to have a bushing installed to remove the slop in the tail wheel ? ?

    • @ColeAviation
      @ColeAviation  3 года назад +1

      I installed a new bushing already. The spindle/axel is wore out.
