I absolutely loved Clayhanger and watched it avidly when I was about 12. My Father was from Stoke on Trent and obviously said that they didn’t get the accent right at all!
What is noticeable is how acting styles have changed since then!

Anyone else old enough to remember 'walking day'. I grew up in Lancashire in the 1950s and every year we walked the bounds of the parish. All the little girls wore dresses made of the same material, we walked in procession with bands and banners just like this. It brought it all back to me, wonderful. The custom must, i think have had its origins in pagan times, but I can still remember my walking day dresses, I loved it.
