Whether you’ve been a long-time viewer or just found me recently, thank you so much for watching, leaving encouraging comments, and helping me build such a supportive community. Knowing that I wasn’t alone on this journey gave me the strength to push through until the very end. To those of you who are still searching or about to begin - I believe in you, and I’m cheering you on every step of the way ♥ If you’re interested in staying in the loop for more data science resources, make sure to subscribe to my email newsletter: beacons.ai/juliafei
First off, congrats on the offer! I just want to say to others in a funk that your 26 applications is not the norm. I'm applying for senior software engineer positions and sent out 136 applications in the last 30 days.
Needed to hear this, after 100+ applications myself for data scientist job, I got 5 interviews with a company and got rejected yesterday. At the same time watching this really made me doubt my competency
Congrats Julia! I got laid off in late March and received an offer from my dream company on the day you posted Job Searching Ep. 09 and today is my first day in my new company. It feels like I've been with you all for the job searching journey haha, wish you all the best!!!
ahh congrats!! I've really enjoyed keeping up with your journey because I went through a similar situation (laid off in Jan, 7+ month job search) and got an offer around the same time you did! This series was really encouraging, it can be tough and lonely during a job search. Also love seeing the data and tracking you did along the way
Mechanical engineer here 👋🏼 I was working at my 1st job for 3 years, got so burnt out having to work 50-60 hour weeks. I found a job out of my field in the government and it’s a dream. They actively discourage working overtime and the pace is much slower. So much vacation + sick time. I’m so grateful. You made the right choice choosing yourself first!
Oh, I cried when your sisters showed your "new job cake". I'm so happy for u, Julia!! It was amazing to see u sharing this journey with us. Sometimes, I was anxious with u. My best friend who lives with me is on the same journey (finding a new job after quitting the old one) and u found it in 5 1/2 months is amazing. It's not fair to compare ourselves with others with different backgrounds and lives. Congratulations, Julia!!!
This is all the proof that there's always a new job already waiting for you, and we just need the patience and discipline to take it one day at a time to land it
congrats julia! and to anyone who feels discouraged by her offers with so little applications please don’t! she’s an influencer with lots of previous work experience! keep your head up and push forward. not all success looks like what you see on youtube or the internet!
I decided to resigned my previous company on April. Currently active searching for job, it’s been 3 months. Rejection after rejection. This video really inspired me not to lose hope yet. Thank you for this series 😊
I recently got laid off in tech due to the market and have been following your series since the beginning since I related to it so much and just wanted to say it’s been a source of comfort for me to watch and follow along. Big congrats on the offer!! 😊
I am sorry you got laid off. Hope you're good and not discouraged to keep going. It's tough looking for a job in tech these days, please take care of your mental and physical first so you can tackle the rest better! This internet stranger just wanted to encourage you today :) fingers crossed all works out for you
Recently started job hunting and the process feels so overwhelming at times but watching your video and realizing that there are still life events that happen even if you haven't found a job made me feel better. Congrats on your new job!
I am so happy for you Julia! Congrats! Your series have helped me a lot to bear a little better this transition in my life. A company rejected me yesterday... I feel so useless.... back to square one. I was so sure to get it, I don't know what's wrong with me, I was a perfect fit for that position... I researched the company as it was for a quiz, I prepared myself as I never have bf... the interviews went really well, really smoothly..., we even had a good laughs, and then I got the email that I was one of the 2 finalists, but they chose the other one. I hate this process, I just am not able to enjoy it. It's been 5 months already, 52 applications, 3 screenings, 1 interview, 4 rejections, and 1 ghosted. This is exhausting. Money is running short, and I feel I have nothing productive to do, even if I am taking courses and stuff to stay updated with my skills. God help me!
Keep going!! You can do it. When I was right out of university, I had a difficult time finding a job too. I took 2 short-term contract jobs before landing in my current organisation, and it's been 6 years since. Don't lose heart! ❤❤
CONGRATULATIONS JULIA!! I'm so happy and excited for you as you start this new job journey! This has been such an interesting series for someone not in the tech industry, so thanks for sharing! And SO happy we got to see the iconic sistas again!! I love that you have such a loving and supportive family, especially to help you through this crazy job search!
i just graduated from college this year, hard to find a job in February. I have been following you in the past 6 months.i am so happiest to see the result. Congrats!
Congrats on signing your offer! This series was so relatable because I became unemployed on Feb 1st and have been following your journey as I pursued my own search. I just got my offer last week and I’m starting my new job in Sept! Although much of the experience was miserable, it was helpful to know that I wasn’t the only person going through the ups and downs of a job search in today’s economy. Good luck at your new job and to everyone looking for their own happy ending - stay strong, it’s coming!
Current job tried offering me a dry promotion to an official "Sr" title. All along the way I inquired about any possible increase in pay because there def was going to be an increase in expectation and skill sets and was told I would def have a case for negotiation. When the time came HR flat out refused any discussion and insisted it was a purely lateral move. I straight up declined 😂 they're still trying to fill the position almost 2 months later. I just dgaf no more 😂😂😂
Julia, congratulations!!! I found your channel when you left Spotify and have followed along ever since. As a computer science student, you’re an inspiration to me and I find your vlogs really demystify the interview process. I appreciate how transparent you are and real about the highs and lows. I hope we get to see more of you soon. I’m excited to follow along in this new phase of your life.
"This video is incredibly heartwarming. As someone who grew up as an only child, I never had the experience of close sibling relationships. Seeing your joy and success is truly uplifting. Congratulations on the new job and all your achievements in life!"
Congrats!! You've been instrumental in helping me stay motivated in my own job search. Thank you for documenting your journey and good luck in your new role!
Happy for you and admire you recorded your life througout all of the difficulties. I watched your video from the first ep till this one and really glad to see that you get your job. Honestly the economic is that good and you're lucky to get one you like. I was told I was going to be laid off this Feb, very similar to your timeline. You video inspired and encouraged me so much. Best luck with your new adventure.
Hi Julia! I watched all your Job series videos, I just want to say thank you for sharing your journey and being an inspiration for everyone.Congratulations and keep safe always!
So happy for you, I started watching you in March when I was in my Hawaii vacation. Your video came up to me the one where you quit your jobat Spotify. I also quit my job at TikTok in May, and I think I will start my job search journey, probably in November.
I have really enjoyed these videos. You are excellent at the job search. I honestly thought you worked so hard and I am impressed. I wish we (as a collective) enjoyed our time off between jobs more, but alas. I hope you love your new job!
So happy for you! I started following you maybe a video or two before you quit your job and I've been keeping up with all the videos on your job search. Excited to see the new journey with your new job!
I feel like we've all been on this journey with you. Thanks for sharing, it's definitely been inspiring to see you look for something you love! So so so happy for you :)
Having followed along your whole job search journey + appreciating how open, resilient and insightful you were the whole time... I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! CONGRATS!!! :) :) :)
i really enjoyed this series so much and shows the ups and down of job searching is. really rooting for u julia & was inspired by your journey. congrats on your new job and wishing you all the best
Congrats on the job offer! I feel really happy that you shared a lot about the job search, work life balance, and life outside work. When you said that in the first half of job search you were not kind to yourself, it felt really true for me. Love all the foods you cooked, the moments friends were there with you thru ups and downs, and the resilience you have to push through the job search process!
Congratulations on all your hard work! I wish you the best in your next endeavor. Your success gives me hope, as I also left my data science job without a backup plan three months ago and have been losing hope. Wish me luck!
Congrats on the new job Julia!! I'm so happy for you!! I'm job searching for about 5 months and I can relate so much with your videos. Thank you for showing how it's like to struggle to find a job. I hope I can have my chance soon too.
I love your videos and am so happy you found a job! That company is lucky to have you. I’m 31, trying to find my way in the corporate world and you inspire me!! 🥳
I watched your series when I was job hunting because it made the whole applying/interviewing/getting rejections process feel so much less lonely! I got an offer around the same time as you, so seeing this be the last episode feels a bit nostalgic :,) thanks for documenting the process for all the unemployed girlies and huge congratulations on your new job!!
I found your channel through this series, binge-watched the first 10 episodes and I was refreshing RUclips like crazy for the past few days after your last update, so happy you found a job! I was job searching last year for almost 8 months (in Hungary) and I felt so hopeless so I can definitely relate.
Congratulations Julia!! That was so sweet of your sisters to get you a cake! They just opened a Paris Baguette in my neighborhood in Queens, so I've been going there often 😊
Julia!!! Congrats! 🥳 It's been quite interesting to watch leading up to your new employment journey! I can definitely say we've seen more of the 'real' you which I've loved btw!! I am also on the journey of recruitment, as a college student it has been quite difficult finding a job that is flexible with my school schedule but I am hopeful, thanks to you!
Here for the tech content, so i hope you won't forget that side of the channel, but looking forward to see whatever direction you take! AND HUUUUUUGE CONGRATS!!!!!!💛
Congratulations on landing that dream job Julia. I knew you could do it. Your videos are the best. I actually found my dream job because of your inspiration for real. I never gave up and I kept going❤❤❤
Congratulations and I hope this is the role that'll make you happy and challenged for a while! I am in the midst of waiting for references to come back, was able to get my salary boosted, but I'm not 100% sure I want to make the move! Incredibly nervous and have a lot of thinking to do! I'm still employed but it's a toxic workplace.
Congrats on the new job! I was laid off in June. While our lives are very different - West Coast GM, fundraising not tech - your journey inspires. Had my 1st interview last week🤞Making sure to get outside, connect with friends, family, interests. Good luck & thx for sharing!
So happy that you found a job. I really like the fact that you used the stats. I’ve never used that before since I haven’t had that much trouble finding a job. I thank God. Good loc to you at your new job. Congrats again to you. 😊
Congratulations Julia!! God knows how long I've been in the job search, but your series has given me HOPE 🙏🏽. I was amazed when you revealed your numbers 😂! quality > quantity
I truly wish you all the best ❤ I know how it feels, I am still working on finding my way in the world. But I am confident that if you don't give up, you will find a way to live which makes you feel happy and fulfilled. I am rooting for you dear ❤ ☀
Congrats on the offer! And wish you the best on this new chapter. This series was super inspiring. I myself am looking jobs in data science as well, but taking it easy while I work, being super picky and even rejecting some offers lol
Congrats, congrats, congrats!!!! This has been THE journey! I hope this job meets your expectations but also that you find the healthy balance with you new job and your personal life.🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congrats on your successful job search. I'm a current data science grad student and followed this job searching series as some who is also struggling with job market. I really enjoyed your youtube series because of how insightful some of your job searching tips were. Make me want to document my job search, but i can't commit to video editing lol
Loved this series, honestlu your approach to this job search was very refreshing! Congratulations on this next chapter Julia, you can finally savour life with less worries now 🥰 x
Thank you for sharing your journey in real time. I love sharing your channel with anyone with a goal or dream because I know that you will share the ups and downs in thoughtful and carefully crafted videos. I love the idea of encouraging the creation of personal timelines- because life is busy, things often do not happen when we want them to, and making note of progress can be encouraging! Like you said, six months can go quickly or feel like an eternity- at the same time! Well done!!
Congrats, I’m really happy for you! Watching this process has been really eye-opening about the realities of working in tech, and I’ve appreciated the opportunity to learn more. (Also, re: negotiating offers - the last time I changed jobs, my former boss got so aggro toward both me and the person who had given me an offer (who he knew professionally) that it would have been genuinely bad judgment to even pretend to consider a counteroffer from him. And then he had the nerve in my exit interview to say he wished he’d been given the opportunity to do so. I would have been more salty about it but I was already getting a really nice raise.)
Hi Julia, I've been following your journey for a month now and I really like how you made time for your friends and family during your job hunt. Often it was get really overwhelming and easy to just shut off from support systems we really need to depend on during this process.
Congratulations on the job offer! 🎊 🎉It must’ve been so stressful behind the scenes but I found your videos very enjoyable. Plus very informative by showing us the realistic side of the job market in tech. I hope you keep on making more videos! Wishing you good luck on your new job! 💞
Congrats! I’ve been following since episode 1, I’ve applied to around 600 internships to land my data engineering internship it’s crazy how you got so many call backs with 26 😮
@juliafei , no problem. I believe everyone who truly tries. You are hope to other females out there. My wife is so happy for you. My wife is Filipino. I am working on my business savings. I work extra hours to do that. My budget is very important.
🎉 congrats! We lived the same thing and emotions all those months. Welcome back in the market. Hope you still enjoyed those last months because you had a lot of time for yourself. Thank you fir sharing your journey, it helped me during mine.
Hey Julia! Congratulations on the new job! Looking at your timeline, I realized our timelines were almost identical. I quit my job in higher ed in February, and I just started my new job last week. It's a crazy journey filled with so many different emotions, stresses, and anxieties, but you did it! :)
I’m a product designer and have been hunting the same time with you. I recently got my job but I would like to say following your journey was encouraging. Congratulations on your new job !
Happy last episode of the job searching series! First off, congrats on the offer! I just want to say to others in a funk that your 26 applications is not the norm. I'm applying for senior software engineer positions and sent out 136 applications in the last 30 days.
100%! I was really picky during my search and recognize that the number of applications I sent out is on the smaller end
*cries in over 300 applications with 0 results*
ikr it’s so easy to compare yourself with others and feel inferior, I wish there’s a world where we wouldn’t do that
Email application s are a joke.
Needed to hear this, after 100+ applications myself for data scientist job, I got 5 interviews with a company and got rejected yesterday. At the same time watching this really made me doubt my competency

Congrats on your successful job search. I'm a current data science grad student and followed this job searching series as some who is also struggling with job market. I really enjoyed your youtube series because of how insightful some of your job searching tips were. Make me want to document my job search, but i can't commit to video editing lol

Congrats Julia! I watch every series of you job searching. Hope you do well on your new job :)
Well done!!
That is so sweet of you thank you so much Amber 🥹❤ yes, life moves in all directions at all times and we do not give ourselves enough grace sometimes
Congrats Julia! thanks for sharing your amazing journey ❤
You are amazing 🎉 I'm so happy for you, I've been on the same path and seeing you getting an offer makes me sooo hopeful ☀️✨ you go girl!!!

Hi Julia, I've been following your journey for a month now and I really like how you made time for your friends and family during your job hunt. Often it was get really overwhelming and easy to just shut off from support systems we really need to depend on during this process.
