I have been trying to help u out Brodie, we're all the subs at fam? Let's go tutes squad ....working on getting him the sliver play button ....come on fellas...keep ballin 💯🏀
I like how you included that throw back footage. Depending on height and build you’re playing on I’d say it varies. The better you are at defending the lower you need it.
I keep it on about 80-85 and find myself much better at defending the ball handler than most in REC. But I also dont just hold L2 the while time either. Its kind of a mix of tapping it to reposition and hands up with R stick.
The higher the assistance, the more contact animations you will get, but the less control you will have over your player. The lower the assistance, the more control you will have, but you will get less contact animations. Personally I find 15 to be perfect for me at 90 perimeter defense.
It does but you have to also understand why. To get contact you have to be in the direction that the ball handler is moving or moving towards the ball handler in the same direction. One thing that I do is play trail on left right dribble. Like if they go left I let go of LT and move towards them trailing and I always get contact animations. If a player is dribbling in one spot I stand there and let them decide which side they going (so I can trail) and it creates contact too because to speed boost you have to start forward (diagonally).
If you're a zone team put it high because you're playing an area not a man and the CPU will basically jump passing lanes for you BUT you will have less on ball control in a transition situation. If you like to play man go lower 15/25 ish will allow you to have more control and makes it easier to guard up because it's your reaction not the CPU. Those teams that play Rec with those long arm locks with a high steal eat like this, you can tell by the movement of their player. They move like robots and their backs always stay to the baseline because the high steal with a high defensive assistant let's the CPU run wild ( Like HOF my career ) so now when you play that team in Rec and they're getting all those passing lane steals reaching up with one hand like PRIME TIME 🫢🫡you know why🤌🏾🙏🏾
Good Stuff! I appreciate the background info from previous games. I feel like there are a lot of legacy features and settings that haven't been explained well. Thanks for the video!
I turn my Defensive Assistance to 0 or 5. You have way more control of your player when guarding those dribbler types trying to side to side you. Defense Assistance makes you commit and will have you out of position against the left right dribblers.
15 for bad connection and 5 if you have a monitor. I was playing with zero for awhile but if you get beat, the recovery is 1000% up to you and you have to have a hedge on the screen
On current gen I’m running this at 70 I guard primary ball handler I feel like it helps with the dribble heads doesn’t allow them to cheese you as much I have found it helps to keep them in front of u
id bet my left nut your win percentage is below 50 and you get absolutley cooked to shit on current and slide across the entire court vs someone with half a brain lol
I have it on 85 and when I’m on my 97 perimeter D guard it works very well with clamps but with my 63 PD guard I slide everywhere and get stuck in the mud I honestly think it has a lot to do with your ratings
i think paint defense in general got nerfed tbh bro. I'm not gonna say I'm the best center but I know what I'm doing been playing since 2k12 and my 99 overall 7"2, 95 block, 30 defensive badge glass cleaner was getting dunked on all rec game by low driving dunk players? I was so confused i couldnt block a tin can from rolling down the street. I have a 80% win in rec idk wtf was happening lol it's been like this since the new season started
Nah if you put 100 and who to guard on in rec, you can be guarding a center in the paint, pg shoots a 3, you'd be vacuumed towards the 3 point line and out of position for the rebound. But it's alright when you turn who to guard off.
I definitely turn my Who-to-Guard Off. I just find the arrow to be a distraction and also demotes playing Defense by relying on an arrow. I always click the menu to see who my matchup is and from that point on I know who to Guard.
@@BlessedCarlton I had a power outage so I had to factory reset my ps5 then download everything from the drive. I went into rec and the arrows were on because my in game settings were reset. For that 4 game win streak I was being vacuumed like a mother fu*ker
I run 0 because we all have that moment when somebody rim running & with it on you try dragging your player the way you know they’re gonna go but your player moving slow getting there. It’s like a resistant effect.
Or learn how to play perimeter D! One badge that really helps with the dribble gods is Ankle brace. All my guard have it on gold at least. It really minimizes the stun animations they can get
I use 60. I guard best offensive player. I like to guard on the shooting hand side. I feel like I stay engaged much better than when I had it set at 15.
Watch the whole vid, to get an “it depends on your play style” and “play with the settings” conclusion, this one felt unsatisfying. No tangible suggestions
I remember reading on twitter or saw in a sam pham video at one point that defensive assist really just slows you down when you get close to the ball so that you can have finer movement. Whatever the case, I hate it and it probably doesn't need to exist anymore if all it's gonna do is fuck up your movement even more than it already is fucked up.
The question I have is does it also help a 6’10” big man in post defense? I am a power forward but often get pushed to the center position in the rec, where I am somewhat undersized. when I posted up by a skilled 7 footer, I get roasted with dropsteps and back downs. . Will this help here?
What those 2 said but there’s a few ways you can try and defend. On my big I’ll usually run the defense setting anywhere between 25 and 40 depending on how i plan to defend. Zone I’ll put it on lower man to man towards the higher end closer to 40. You can let them post you just don’t fall for any pump fakes play hands up d unless they’re close to or underneath the basket then you should jump to contest(watch out for pump fake cheese yee be warned). You can also try to press B or O to pull the chair when they’re backing down. They’ll usually stumble and turn the ball over. Last one tutes has videos on ball stripper and pick pocket. You can try to strip them when they’re drop stepping, pump faking, or dribbling. Practice and try each one and see which works best for your play style.
@@ItsAlwaysSkorpioSzn oh sorry i thought you pertaining to dunks...with a perfect latency you usually release the controls when the ball is on your fingertips on layups
got several different PG builds mainly with gold or HOF clamps badge, using 100 def assist, which i feel helps me to stay infront of the ballhandler, but i feel like i can get my ankles broken easier, so bronz or silver ankel bracers badge is a must for me. 1st 3-4 seasons i played with 25 assist and could not defend well, but that was the time of left and right cheese. maybe it would be different now, but honestly i dont feel like changed anything that works now,-)
I tryed it on 30 and I could contest every shot as soon they jumped, but a few times I did a small reach and and couldn't recover fast enough around the edge..So I don't know
I don't feel any difference from 0 to 100 so I just keep it on 0. I guard ball and play a lot of 1v1. I used to mess with the settings but dont waste time now.
Why does my jump shot not get any green animations or sniper animations every shot looks like it’s real player but it’s timing. Set shot 25 release 49 Patrick Ewing 50/50 max speed been using it for like 5 seasons never had an animation
Gold is the best for the badge points and is necessary if you are the PG but silver or bronze is fine if you dont have a lock on you and dont do the majority of dribbling.

Been playing on zero since last season if im playing at the 1 or 2, find it more rewarding when i have a good read on how the guard is moving
Players aren't more skilled at all. They just cheese.
And RUclips is to blame….
They are all the SAME
It’s a catch 22 bc what you call cheese does take skill depending on the play style but everything can be guarded if you know what you need to

You stay dropping bangers 🙌🙌

It works best for me guarding main ball handler at 15. At 50 I was sliding around way too much.
Reason I hate defensive assist is cause it automatically slide you on to screens when you guarding the man dribbling side to side
Also, it seems like Chase Downs blocks / badge got Nerfed in this latest season… Am I right?
Tbh it needed a nerf these centers were literally jumping 30 feet from a stand still to block dunks
It works a lot less with a small wingspan. But I’ve still been getting them with max wingspan.
You’re probably right because I barely get putbacks anymore like I use to
