*Summary of The Duchess Of Malfi*
- Duchess (widow) runs a town in Italy, the duchess is kind and beautiful as she’s still young
- Her brothers tell her to not get married because they want to ‘keep honour’
- Regardless the duchess secretly gets married
- Gets pregnant with the steward (Antonio)
- Eating apricots when pregnant put u in labour so she was given them (by her brothers to check if she’s pregnant or if it was a rumour) and goes into labour
- She lies and says she’s sick to cover up her being pregnant
- Antonio drops the horoscope he made for his son which is evidence that she had a kid
- Her brothers find out about her marriage and say her ‘noble blood was tainted’
- Duchess has 2 more kids
- Ferdinand (one of her brothers) sneaks into the duchesses room to ‘speak to her’ but he hands her a knife and says to kill herself, however she refuses and so Ferdinand swore to never see her again
- Duchess and Antonio were able to go away with their kids in an official way (like leave the country) but they get caught and her brothers put her in jail
- Ferdinand goes to the jail and hides in the dark (coz he swore to never see her again lmao)
- Gives her a hand and says that its a dead mans hand to make her believe her husband is dead, makes her think her kids are dead
- The brothers wants to torture her by making her sit with crazy ppl from mental hospital while in jail
- Executioner comes and kills the kids and duchess
- Ferdinand and Bosola start to feel guilty (Bosola is a spy that Ferdinand hired to spy on the duchess)
- Before the duchess dies she opens her eyes and is told that her husband is alive, then she dies
- Antonia doesn't know whats going on
- Bosola ends up turning good and decided not to spy on the duchess anymore. But he accidentally kills Antonio because he thought it was Ferdinand. Before he dies he was told his wife and kids were dead. Says he doesn’t want to live anymore
- Tells Antonio’s son he will get his rightful fortune
