Positives and negatives which made this a more constructive review. backed up with opinion from experience and no arse licking. Personally I felt he made the video just for me and was speaking directly to me LOL
I have played/ programmed on it for 3 days now and a few things I would love to see added. 1. LFO pan of sound 2. Option to set filter post fx 3 random patch as mentioned here. I dont mind the FX they are vintage-ish sounding slightly dull but do have their place.
Mine should arrive in a few days, psyched. Actually the analog effects were one of the selling points for me! I've got plenty of digital effects through my DAW, it seemed refreshing to have a completely analog path that includes effects. They have their own sound for sure, so depends on what you're looking for and intended use. To each their own :) Great review!
I think some people are missing the point about slating the FX on the Matrix Brute, its an analog synth, with analog bucket brigade FX, they are not meant to be top notch, rich sounding digital FX, however if you dive into the FX section, there are some good ways to get some pretty good sounding character sounds, which do sound very analog. Which is the point, Arturia made an analogue synth, you even have to leave it for 30 minutes so it warms up and gets into tune, it gives it that character which is missing from a lot of todays technology. I love mine, it sounds unique, original, it has tons of character, but I am not defending it because I own one, I was not sure about the FX at first, but careful tweaking and it sounds so rich, and so so analog. If you actually owned one and spent time with it, then you would appreciate why they have done the FX the way they have. If you asked someone in there 40-50s or 60s to do a review on the MatrixBrute, I think their opinion will be rather different to what this blokes opinion was. EDM music, fuck me you can do an electronic symphony on this, you can do anything. I am still scratching the surface and I have had mine for 6 months. Would I sell it?. No chance, Mono synths have soul, this is more than a mono synth! Its brilliant.
I agree! The analog effects never tried to sound digital, they're rich, analog effects! Granted, I've got my MatrixBrute going through a TC Hall of Fame reverb pedal, but whenever I want some of that springy, ARP 2600-sounding BBD reverb, I switch the pedal off. Merry Christmas!
A simple used from ebay digital reverb pedal can fix this. 99% use sample packs of matrixbrute anw heavy processed on a daw so i cant understand why they bitter about its fx? Cause it killed their moog prolly:p
No review will do this synth justice. This one you just have to play and hear yourself. I keep going back. $2,000 is a lot for a monophonic synth, but I'm not sure I understood what it means to fall in love with an instrument til I played this
@@wellbi no its not, at the very minimum it's true duophonic with a filter and envelope for each voice, which is basically polyphonic at that point. This video demonstrates it well. ruclips.net/video/_q70mQrwgVA/видео.html

Good review. He really didn't like the efx section. I can see what he means from the little you get to hear they sound a bit crap. All in all though it's a monster. The sequencer an mod section really set it apart from other mono's. better than the Sub37......not sure?
neat review. this is like the stuff I do in Reason. endless possibilities :) still wish it had a couple more voices. could care less about effects from big mojo synths. thats what aux channels are for :) lexicon flavor.
Hello! What is your experience with the matrixbrute signal noise ratio? You hear any significant infiltrating digital noises or any residual noises? You have any remarkable negative experience about the matrixbrute noises? My matrixbrute is generate a lot of noises. Using with a amplified studio speakers almost impossible on a standard level. The dinamics is very thin and poor, comparing my any other synthesizer. What is your opinion about the signal dinamics?
loopop has a few in-depth videos on the other brute-series synths and it is exactly that. folds the trinagle and has no effect whatsoever on the other waves.
22 minutes, your right about sitting in the studio for a while to get what you want to get, there is no menus diving but you have to dive into knob tweaking a lot to get good sounds, the matrix mod can sound cheesy if your not careful.......there are a lot of unusable sounds .....there are a lot of great sounds ......I caution that you should try before you buy and decide
Тест OH HELL NO!! Arturia software synths sound terrible. Sounds to thin, filters are pants, effects totally pants, and this Synth is no different. Sounds like an old 8bit Atari farting. It does look good, and from comments I've seen across RUclips demos of this I can tell people are only buying it based on looks. The Matrix sequencer is good but unfortunately it's still left running the cheap thin crappy sound. Reckon it's one of those Synths that buyers will be gutted with it's sound after 2 months once the novelty of knob twiddling to know where wears off. YOU can buy software for under 200 quid that blows this away.
+MayDay GoingDown!! Arturia ARP2600 is one of my favorite software synthesizers. Therefore, I do not agree with you :) The only synth that I did not like was Arturia Wurlitzer V, real sound terrible, but rest of products are great.
Тест Again there version of the ARP 2600 looked the part but sounded nothing like the original. There is an American version...i forget the name of the developer who made a far more realistic sounding version. I was lucky enough to use an ARP 2500 & 2600 in the 70's, the Arturia isn't even close. There Moog Modular was closer. This Matrix Synth simply sounds flat, devoid of any character, the filters sound digital, the effects are terrible, the keys are cheap and terrible with no action and you can't get away from the thud noise every time you play notes, once the novelty of knob twiddling wears off in a months time it will be a dust collecter as the sounds are terrible. Reminds me of old 8bit Atari farting. Like I said, there are soft synths that are based on analogue for under 200 quid that make this look embarrassing.
A fair enough review, but: Turns the BBD fx with random settings to full wet and goes "I don't know...". Mate, like you said yourself, a little goes a long way. The fx are what they are, a vintage analogue BBD effect section - people pay good money just for that alone, and these are more flexible than most :-) Most owners, including me, happen to love'm. You'd obviously use your other outboard fx as well for non-BBD style processing.
What you see in the video is just an edited interview part. You can be sure that he spend some more time (6 days exactly) with the Matrixbrute to build his opinion. Like always, it's a matter of taste.
He likes the synth but he don't like the internal effects, don't get the problem. It's his personal opinion. And what is a professional reviewer? One who only say positive things? Luckily people have different tastes and opinions.
Ashton Khan - I think he means that modulation sources are digital. This is like most (all?) new analog synths. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to control any parameters via midi.
Im not trying to hate on this dude or anything but I think he's very vague about what he's saying. Plus he doesn't back up his opinions with much knowledge about the synth. It's mostly just "wing it and play with it and if I don't hear anything I like it's a failure"
you don't like that he pointed out that its huge and heavy??? awwww poor baby. boo hoo. I hope you find a review that doesn't mention it's size and weight, you little bitch!
