Harry is just so calming he really makes 35 grand sound not a lot of money. Could listen to the guy all day - wouldn’t have any money left at the end of it though!
@@stokes8626 Harry isn’t in the business of burning money, he always gives context to the cost. Count me in. Me dad got a Mk2 Lotus Cortina , 60s Cooper S and that Abarth. He sold the Mini and Fiat but gave me the Ford which I sold off in 92. If he hand me down the Fiat, I wud have kept it😑
It’s some of these episodes that really make me feel like I was born in the wrong part of the world…I’m proud to be a yankee, but my tastes are so much more in line with Europe. I love so many of these cars, never been a huge fan of monstrous land yachts (except a few, like old Caddys and 60’s Lincoln Continentals and such), big SUVs or ESPECIALLY automatic transmissions(!!!) I feel like today’s Americans want a couch instead of a vehicle, and that’s why our cars drive like floaty ‘flying couches.’ Cheers everyone! 🖖😎👍
That white MG V8 used to belong to my Dad. He had it on the South coast, then moved to Orkney Islands and took it up there with him. Amazing to see it in such good shape.
Harry, you should really consider making these Silverstone walk arounds 2 or even 3 part videos if you're able to do it. There's just too many interesting and beautiful cars to cover in only 30-40 minutes, and I thoroughly enjoy listening to your stories and knowledge. Thank you very much! 👍👍
Even the boggo poverty specked ones used to drive superbly. IMO the best fiat saloon car ever made by a long shot. If they'ed only made them out of steel instead of spaghetti they would have been so much more successful. I miss my mirafiori racing so much.
This is the best Silverstone collection yet. These videos are like being escorted around the best sweet shop/toy shop ever by our favourite enthusiastic and knowledgable expert. These and your road trips are my favourite videos on this channel. I've recently become a 131 Abarth fan myself thanks to the game Art of Rally. I bet it's a wonderful thing and possibly one of the greatest handling cars ever. Those Elans and their stories were magical. So many treasures in here, really really wonderful.
@@ralphmillais5237 the only weakness I found (stripped the pinion in the diff) as the 2.0 sport had the same Diff as the little 1300 miriafiori, but I bought 2 good ones from a scrap yard for £25 !, 5 link rear end too if I can remember, I changed the Pirelli’s to Dunlop D3’s which were terrible in the wet, and managed to get the speedo showing 125mph on the downhill section of the M5 towards Clevedon , try that in your 4 speed escort 😁
Harry is such a non-show off that he didn't even mention that he owns one! Anybody else would have excitedly said "I'VE GOT ONE OF THESE!" and shown a photo of it on screen lol.

Not necessarily a waste of money; if you can afford it and that's what gives you a kick, why not? It's better than throwing money away on membership of a golf club! Very few hobbies will ever show a profit.
Wow! That Abarth is really nice. And those rally cars are really very tempting. Have been bingeing the previous auction videos. Thanks for sharing Harry!
Such a boost to watch the sheer joy and enthusiasm of Harry doing an auction walkaround. That excitement, the videos really need to be an hour long, although I guess the producer probably said that we want to keep this one to 20 mins. Okay Harry? Yes, yes if you say so....
Superb review again Harry. So many very special cars, so nice to hear the 131 Arbarth is special for you to. Dad owned a 131 supermirafiori back in the 70's. The Arbarth has always been a dream car for me. The Elan collection was also really special.
My mate had a 131 MIrafiori that he engine swapped a 2L twin cam into. This was in our early 90's boy racer days and it was quite a fast car for not a lot of cash. He also had a 127 Sport prior to that which I remember being fun too.
The Fiat 131 Abarth is the only car that I would sell my house to own. I’ve loved them since the 70’s but have never found one in a condition worth restoring.
Shoot! The trailer got me looking 'cos of the 131 shown.Had to spool all the way through to discover its the last car and Harry loves it.....classy number alright.I just loved the 131 TC in the day. This one is a few steps above for sure.
Fantastic as always Harry. Always loved the Fiat 131. Remember going for a ride in one with the late great Russell Bulgin thro' the lanes of north Worcestershire. Happy days.
Harry, you should buy the Peter Sellers car. It is, in your own words, the pinnacle of its type. You would be the perfect custodian of it. The RUclips views alone would be worth it.
What a perfect day out. Too many lovely cars to choose from. Harry certainly knows his cars and has a great appreciation for the hard work the owners have put in to their cars. I will have to keep doing the lottery.
Cooper S Mini engines were either 970cc, 1071cc or 1275cc. I think I'm right in saying the 1071cc was generally regarded as peak Cooper S (33 EJB - the Monte Carlo winner was 1071cc). The Lotus Elan is probably the greatest British sports car ever made and the FIAT 131 was the pick of the bunch. Great video Harry.
Having owned a few minis the 1071 was the sweet spot as far as bore and stroke went. The 1098 used in clubmans were a tad slow to rev but a 998 as used for the common set up in production cars was a good compromise. It was pretty well a square bore/stroke .But it all depended on rim size.10 inch rims were far more fun than 12 whatever but top speed compromised. But for rally purpose 10" provided better acceleration and suited an A series better. Also a 10 " rimmed set up climbs far better than a 12 and again those A series engined never breathed very well so much better at mid revs rather than top.
That Sierra Rs500 (or one identical to it with 5k on it), was at Ford Fair 23 years ago and was for sale for £14000!
