  • In this clip we repotted a Ficus Benjamina bonsai which have overgrown roots and has filled up its shallow pot. Large roots circling the surface of the pot can be seen which is unsightly. This is one indication that the bonsai needs new soil and trimming of roots needs to be done. As a goal in root training, fine roots are desired which are most useful to the plant. After so many root trimming the eventual result is growth of finer roots nearer to the base of the trunk. These roots will be most effective to support plant growth as well as being very compact it can fit into shallower or smaller pots.
