German Look Karmann Ghia Restoration pt.3 Paint Work and Rolling Shell

Finally the Karmann Ghia Restoration gets paint and starts looking like a car again! The Ghia is possibly one of the best looking classic cars out there and works perfectly with this colour.

I had a Karman Cabrio in 1969 with 34 HP. From the Netherlands straight through Spain v.v.. I had a white color. This color is the most beautiful I have ever seen on a Karmann. Great job and with a lot of love.👏👏👏You would almost be afraid to drive this car. So beautiful

Love a Karmann cabrio! I agree this colour works so well on a ghia as it really highlights the contours and shapes of the bodywork!

Great work, scary painting that liquid silver i bet custom paint is always twice as difficult as a normal paint job . You smashed guys and a big thumbs up too Chris 👍👍

Thank you 👍 surprisingly Chris was much less stressed whilst doing the custom baja we did last year! Check out the video if you haven’t already. This particular base coat was just so unforgiving, leaving no room for error. Chris has been with us coming up to 8 years, always cool as a cucumber, I’ve never seen him stressed the way he was doing this job 😂 was tense in the workshop that day!

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying the videos! Yes,when the black was applied the car was lacquered then after the Liquid Metal silver was applied it was lacquered again.

Wow looks amazing.. painting over 1000 grit must be tough and not get runs. How many coats of the Liquid Silver was it? I missed it if you said so. Great job!

Thank you 👍 two coats of liquid silver, we then hung the panels and did a drop coat over the whole lot (unfortunately I didn’t get any footage of that!) that was the really tricky bit as we couldn’t touch the base coat at all.

Such a nice Ghia. That paint had to be incredibly difficult. The finished product shows what "doing it right" looks like. Think you'd like my 69.
