  • I recently went home to visit my parents in Southern California. My dad grows nopales (cactus) and aloe vera in his backyard and makes these amazing green smoothies that are so nutritious. Now retired, he goes on long, fast morning walks and enjoys one of these amazing smoothies after. I had the opportunity to try it for myself and it was so refreshing. Check it out for yourself.

It was really cool to see my dad make his smoothie. He's been growing nopales for as long as I can remember.

Green Goodness! I've not heard of eating Nopales raw. I've had it in recipes. Mine here doesn't look as healthy as his, of course, wondering if I should try drinking mine. Lol
It does sound like a healthy start to a day though. I'm glad y'all had a good visit❤

Thanks Patti ❤️ Yea, you can eat nopales raw although I've only ever had them in a smoothie/juice like this and cooked with red chile sauce. Both are delicious!

Thanks! I've never tried just aloe juice on it's own but I like the aloe in this smoothie. You can't really taste it with most of the flavor coming from the cactus and green apples and then citrus hit from the orange and pineapple. It's really quite tasty and would drink more of if we had access to cactus daily.

I tried this last year and found it too thick, maybe I need less of the cactus in the smoothie. But I use it in other ways and like it, as long as the consistency is a bit watery.
