My very question. TC tech support sent a detailed response regarding their power management sytem concept. (youtube didn't allow the link) From watching various videos of some exceptional artists using these live with their ensembles, I would say they can hold their own without any problem (unless you're playing Wembley Satdium...) if your using it primarily to provide stage volume and are feeding your signal to the house for the audience mix, which is what most are doing these days anyway.
just a question Xd the head as 450w(4ohm) and the cabinet as 400(8ohm) we only get 225w going to the speaker! and if we conect another speaker in series , the same specs 400w(8ohm) , how mutch power that we will get from the amp??
Owen, what about the power output? apparently it's not 450W RMS, but "perceived"... do you think the muscles are all there or is it a little overrated?
I've played this amp for months before buying one. The last thing it has is artificial tone. You need to dial in your tone for each bass, just like any other amp. I own several tube amps including the ever sought Ampeg SVT w 8x10 cabinet. I can duplicate the amp with RH 450 if i want it. It takes some tweaking but it can be done. many pro endorsers cant be wrong. Those comments are not accurate regarding its capabilities.
they use an extremely advanced compression system in the power amp, which makes it definately the equal of an "actual" 450W, but i think it might also be the reason that it sounds strangely... artificial.
I appreciate the honesty in Gearwire videos, they're not covering up the negative aspects of products to make them look better than they are.
Great review, many thanks … and 5 thumbs up for the Spacehog!!!

Just a guess here but I think he probably meant parallel when daisy chained. ;^)
Much as he meant to say Sweep EQ rather than fully Parametric.
So as this is 10 years old, what is the modern equivalent of this?
