I am Kazakh, and I love this film, thank you for filmed it, I always dreamed to have a eagle of my own when I was a child, actually it is a dying tradition of my people.

I am watching this interview 6 years later since its first release. I read several comments about the competence of the translator and I want to add that he is rendering the words of the main characters very accurate. The most important thing is that he is not adding anything from his side and keeping the original meaning. Maybe his speaking skills are not the best but he is being good translator. I also would like to agree that it is very difficult to find a professional translator from Kazakh into English even now. So film makers are very lucky to find this guy 6 years ago. Thanks for this interview! Thanks for your interest! Айшолпан сен қазақтың өжет те батыр қызысың! Әрдайым жолың болсын!

I remember when I was a school boy we had two nice gentlemen, a journalist and photographer, from one of the London magazines. They were friends and former collegues of my aunt and they came all the way to Almaty to make a story about hunting a fox with eagles of our far relative; an old respected man and a hereditary eagle hunter. Well, they eventually had to hire a professional russian interpreter who could ride a horse and did not hesitate to spend several days in a countryside during a cold winter to assist my dad and uncle to interpret from original kazakh to russian and then professionaly from russian to english. That's how it worked back then. I am glad that the world is more interested in burkut falconry today. I hope that this kind of attention will help those families to prosper and save that real and little what is left from ancient traditions.

Wow this interview is amazing, the response from the main characters are very natural. If I were in front of these foreign crowd I am definitely shaking due to nervousness.

Aisholpan and his family are placed in a such different setting and culture, mentality from theirs that they must feel somewhat lost as to what are the expectations, satisfying curiosity of the rest of world ...that I would advise that someone who knows their culture well and also understands western mentality guide them, prepare in advance to these kind of interviews and other public appearances. Seriously, no joke!

I guess there are quite a few professional interpreters from kazakh to english. Mostly because most kazakhs in Kazakhstan are fluent in russian so it's more common to get here russian-english interpreters for communication with foreigners. In case with those people from Mongolia, that interpreting guy is most certainly more fluent in russian rather than english. The managers could just easily find a professional russian interpreter there in States. Would look silly interpreting two languages, but that could work nicely!

Kazakhs now speak English, how come they could not find a professional interpreter?! But this guy is doing good job, but this kind of tv appearance requires a professional translator

actually is not bad, yes at the first question he made a bit different translation, but general meaning was not changed much.

2 Can Sam... Maybe these people you mention should remember not to use first world reasoning in a third world country. These wonderful, natural people don't have a choice: Nor can they just take a quick trip to a clothing store.

Translator is not really good but you can still improve your skill specially interpreting for such kind of talk. Good luck.
