I own a 287C which has an ASV Undercarriage. Didn’t see any parts for my machine on your website. Please respond with the link and I’ll have a look. Thanks.
I believe you are speaking on a topic you don’t have all the information on. In 99 Cat introduced its first two skid steers the 216 and 226 both had pilot controls. In 2000 Cat announced a joint venture with ASV to produce Cat’s first tracked machine the 247, which has what they call the MTL undercarriage, it was not until 2008 that Cat offered the CTL undercarriage. The 247b is not at all an ASV machine, the only part ASV is the undercarriage, the rest of the machine is simply a Cat 246 wheeled machine modified to run on tracks. The so called ASV undercarriage that gets such a bad wrap is only one specific undercarriage, that is used on the 247b and 257b. This is mainly because these undercarriages were just thrown under a machine designed for a wheeled configuration so Cat could bring a tracked machine to the market. The same undercarriage is still used on ASV’s rt65 and vt70 without any major issues. The different is the ASV machines are design around the undercarriage not just thrown under a wheeled machine. On the bigger ASV machines, SR80, RT75, RT120 they use a complete different designed undercarriage that is much beefier that allows the machine to be lighter then any other machine in its hp class and still have a higher drawbar pull by a lot, which means better traction. ASV’s undercarriages gets a bad wrap for being “expensive” but what people don’t realize is how long they actually last, it will last almost twice the amount of hours a CTL undercarriage will last. The environment your running the machine in has a lot to do with that though. If your going to be running in sharp aggregate all the time the AVS undercarriage isn’t for you, but if your doing land clearing, topsoil, grading, septic, high speed traveling, you should look into the asv because the benefits out way the negatives. Asv’s new machines are top of the line, I would say in the running for the best machines on the market now. You shouldn’t base your opinion on a company simply off one product that they got bullied into licensing to the 800lb gorilla in the equipment market, for them to then use it in a way that’s setting it up for failure.
I don't think CAT bought ASV.... "Eight years after its loaders were introduced(1998), ASV entered into an agreement with Caterpillar Inc., to produce rubber track undercarriages for some of the Cat compact equipment product line. This alliance continues today."
Well I've got a 257B with asv. Has to replace 1 rear bogie, 1 middle bogie, rebuild 3 middle bogies & replace 3 idlers. Yes expensive through CAT. After replacing the tracks, how in hell do I get the 2 outside idlers on. I bought the biar install tool but good grief, there's just no room between the lugs & bushing that holds asv rack into it. Anyone please?

Greg had to think long and hard on this comment. All I have is I’m glad you love ASV. Did you used to play football?!?
