@@Aflooos tbh any kind of filo pastry would work, then you wrap it around your filling either in one giant pastilla or multiple, don't use too much crust tho, and make sure to coat between the layers with butter, be generous with the spices and dust it with sugar and cinnamon.

Thanks for that representation of Vietnam guys. I actually don't see the "bánh xu xê" that much in big modern wedding parties anymore, only close and intimate ones with only the bride's and the groom's family attending, so it reminded me of some good memories.
As a person living in Germany but not in a very German household, I have barely any memory of that soup, I probably had it last in kindergarten but I can so clearly taste it through the screen. It's such a distinct taste that even tho I didn't even know anymore that this dish exists, the moment I saw it, I really felt that taste.
