Headlands to me is in the same space as Salsa Warbird. A gravel bike that is a gravel bike. Meanwhile we have Specialized making a weird overpriced inferior "full" suspension. We have 3T trying to turn a fat bike aero. We have Canyon's weird Red Baron handlebar. I think its good that Marin makes a bike that is the bike the label says it is. Not gimmicky. And also doesn't take selling a kidney on the black market to afford.
Well said!
For the money, it’s a cracking bike.
On the drivetrain side of things, I’d go smaller ring on the front. I’m running 40T up front and a 10-44 cassette, which is brilliant for climbing.
Would love a gravel bike with a front 180 rotor, when descending you need it if heavier..
Sometimes I’d like one
@@DaveNoakes Yeah, that is why my next bike is an MTB with an 180mm front!
nice one Dave, good to get the stock bike review in - looks well sorted especially for skids and stoppies :) enjoy the customisation, Marin do make some great bikes
Love this bike. Thanks 4 sharing. Have a nice ride.😎😎😎
The bike sounds pretty well dialed in, as stock. But I'd change to a longer stem, smaller chain-ring, and a better saddle.
Nice review bro
Appreciate that 🙏🏽
@DaveNoakes in the cotswold muddy rocky, 36 eagle front, 9-46T at the back, 52-584 tyres and 180 discs like a XC bike :) but I am not fit as you might see @ BOTB 🤪😜
nice review Dave
Thank you 🙏🏽
Bike looks a beauty, good no nonsense review.
Gravel, lower gear! Very useful, especially if you are carrying some gear while bikepacking.
Very true!
The bike is too light Dave. You need a steel one, they definitely don't blow over!
😂😂😂
Put some of those 650b Carbon mag wheels on it!
Sticking to the spokes on this one
Nice review
Thank you
hi Dave, my bike came with standard GRX 1x, for me it was totally inadequate for gravelly hills and rough stuff. I swapped the front cog for a 34 and back cassette to 11-48 (i did add a secondary manual-change front cog of 38 for day to day riding - not on a shifter). Your new bike looks great and dream to ride, what's the weight of your setup Dave?
what about 11-46 cassette with 42T chainring?
Dave, what is the max rider weight for the Headlands 2 and then plus cargo. It seems to imply on the Marin site that it is 136kg rider and 14kg luggage for a Class 2 bike which I assume the H2 is as the manual says it is "...intended for paved roads, gravel or dirt roads that are in good condition, and bike paths..." Can you or anyone shed light on this? I am 115kg and if it is correct this will be great if it's true.
i like my 30/36 low gear but i have to run a 46/30 up front so it is what it is, i weigh over 100kg
Marin delivers great value, compared to the big 5.
1000% agree
I see your bike is a size 56 , please how tall are you and what's your inseam measure (talking about bikes don't be evil-minded ;-) ) ?
Any dairy farms there?
I think so
40 at the front? Im ride oval 30 at the front
Anyone use 32-35c tire on this bike for road? Any good?
you move a lot man hard to watch man
What’s that you say? The bike given to you by your sponsors is great and represents value for money? I’ll be sure to come back for more impartial reviews of other stuff you’ve been gifted…..
Yes I am sponsored by marin, and it’s clear in all of my videos. You don’t have to take my word for it if you don’t want to. If you watch my vlogs I’ve ridden and abused this bike for years all over the world. Feel free to compare it to other models by other brands, I was just giving my opinion of it. If I didn’t like the bike I wouldn’t ride it or bother doing a review
