Please don't just try to catch-up with US semiconductor technology, please leapfrog US into using new IC technology such as using new material or techniques, just like Huawei leapfrog into 5G.

Amazing discussion well analysis of the current situation we hope China Will create a domestic ecosystem of semiconductor and ic to free the entire world to any future black mail. WE LOVE CHINA from Africa
The blockade, embargo and sanction are the weapons for forever enslavement. China is breaking it. Let's jump to the freedom as soon as the west can't sanction anybody anymore.
Yea because blackmail, sanctions and embargo’s from the ccp will be any better than Americans. If a country is willing to kill millions of its own citizens for the good of the collective, what do you think they’d do to people that aren’t their legal citizens?
Great presentations although difficult for many to grasp. China must continue to forge forward with more research and development as had been done in Huawei. Very important to have clear strategies and investments in human resources. No doubt China has the potential to become the leader in technological risks
@Sum Ting Wong - I lived long enough to remember the Japanese did similar with copying to catch up to the US. TSMC makes semiconductor chips btw and I followed their impressive rise, smart and hardworking chinese people they jumped start their industry by getting chinese working in the US semiconductory industry to comeback to Taiwan to help run their R&D, and fabs. I guess China is doing something similar too. Anyways semiconductor manufacturing is expensive business and the technology changes very fast lets see how China competes. During the early days HK did try with some small R&D fabs I guess HK gave up.
@Sum Ting Wong - haha lets not go down this road and pick at straws to prove a point. We both agree than Japan and China copy. I was from the semiconductor industry during my working days, yes I totally agree and add you cant copy in semiconductor industry because its technology changes every 6 months so good luck trying to copy every 6 months. U really need the foundation to establish and push the technology, copy doesnt help here. Furthermore there is a complete ecosystem in Semiconductor that is really needed eg. the equipments, the materials used to produce the IC chips. All these(equipment and materials used) keep evolving and changing as the technology advances to make faster and higher density chips. Heavy investment is needed in semiconductor industry and the competition is fierce for 1st place u make money, 2nd and 3rd u juz happy to make some money anything below 3rd good luck to u. This is true in the whole ecosystem not only the final product the IC.
Correct me if i am wrong but isn't Taiwan part of China. If it is, then why does China lag behind in semiconductor chip industry. Will occupying Taiwan and making it a province of China solve this?
@@svenvdw4894 Taiwan is 'independent', but at the time is part of China. its real name is : "Republic of China", and before they say the continent China is the fake China, and they (Taiwan) is the real China. China's main weakness in developing homegrown talent is that a lot of truly innovative students wouldn't pass the Gaokao system. A good chunk of brilliant MIT graduates are pretty terrible (by Gaokao standards) students. Literally don't think rules apply to them, which is why they're able to push boundaries.
I cant wait!! !....China's 5g tech advancements is proven superior, i can't wait to c wat they do with their chips....ill buy Huawei mate x immediately 😎....
The United States realized the central importance of technology to national security during World War II. The result was a massive government investment in promoting technology in the post war period. The microprocessor is one fruit of that effort. The American attack on Huawei underlines the importance of advanced semi conductors to China's national security. The ability to design advanced semi conductors seems to have become widespread. Huwawei already has two advanced processor chips in production and second generations of those chips on their way. The bottleneck is in the industrial technology needed to manufacture the chips. TSMC and Samsung are already global leaders in that industrial technology. It is hard to see any doubt that the national security significance of the ability to manufacture advanced semiconductors justifies whatever the cost is to develop at least one Chinese company competitive with global leaders in the capability to manufacture them.
In order for china to surge forward, corporate culture need to be improve especially bottom up integration. China can penetrate into the Asian Market of 4.6 Billion, but have to be aware of Over Capacity and Competitiveness: Quality over Quantity matters .. This means Size of Specific Specialties in the Semiconductor Industry have to be kept Small (less than 2,000), yet be able to Compete Domestically.
Let discuss what is the gap in SOC,CPU,NPU,DSP,FPGA,GPU,memory products, modems and manufacturing process like photo lithography, chemical etching, packaging and testing
yes specifically that is what I wanted to hear.... but as noted - China's gap isn't really in designing chips anymore - its in the manufacturing process. The most advanced manufacturing actually isn't in the US -- it's TSMC and Samsung.

Strange as it may sound, it's actually not in China's (and any country) best interests to be fully independent. It's not feasible period. 1. Doing that will run into the trouble of being isolated from talent, ideas, other tech, which one can progress by mainly by being in touch with consumers and competitors. The domestic market maybe large in China, but a global presence will offer more. Worst that could happen in trying to be fully tech independent, is that this would ironically delay progress...and may even get push out of the industry completely. Just reference history of Japan's semiconductor industry and India's development for example. 2. Another danger is that China might overexert itself trying to build an independent ecosystem for this industry...essentially burning so many resources which are needed elsewhere. It's important to not be like what happen to the Soviet Union when they overexerted themselves in some specific industries. IMHO, best thing is to be measure with responding to US actions, continue working on innovating products/services, put more effort into originality, but stay in touch with the world. The US instigated tech war is self-destructive and simply will not last.
