What an irony to collect
clothes in the dressing room
when outside, the rain,
in the liturgy of the quietest afternoon
occupies the space where
some bodies undress.
How illogical to think of a journey
towards silence, when in bed,
you and I frequent other places
far from the work of the vulgar.
What an incongruous need
to go outside and wander the streets
under the gaze of the weak
and at random, choose a park to hide
away from prying eyes.
Let's stay here,
there's ice and lemon for another gin and tonic,
Marillion's Beautiful is playing
and the clothes are not yet ironed,
let's try to forget the sound of the rain
on the window, and let nothing influence us,
except the pleasure of kissing our mouths
after the acrobatics, the predictable
and the useless sense of order of the gaze.
