I'm trying to wrap my head around Yuel's neutral. What is her best midscreen punish if you catch someone mashing 2L? I've been struggling when characters like Narm and Kata fuzzy mash with low risk lights. The only callout Ive been able to get to work is micro walkback fL 236M but I'm really hoping there's a stronger punish that I can use to disincentivize mashing.
Like, to whiff punish? Or to get out of pressure and then whiff punish? Maybe you can try to get out of mash by doing 214(one of the 3 versions, and not close to corner) and then cancel into U stance. Just Dp is an option (but more risky) I'm not a super high ranked player, i'm also learning her, but i just wanted to give some ideas maybe
Realistically, mid screen our damage is limited so there’s not really a heavy hitting combo unless you can pull them to the corner or spend some meter. Frame traps are usually effective against mashing and the easiest ones to use is c.L into c.M or 66L into f.L. Both you can combo from
do fL guardbreak RS into U foxfire. youre committing to a big read w/ this type of check so shouldnt be hard to confirm. only problem is the meter requirement but the damage and corner carry is good even midscreen. if they fuzzy mash 2l, you may also be able to do microwalk back 2m, but you get the same confirms
Maybe I am just crazy, but I feel the players I fight in normal S rank press WAY fewer buttons than these guys in master rank. These guys are gettin opened up by simple 66L stagger. How?
S rank players often fall into one of two major categories -- press buttons too much, or press buttons too little. This is usually because they're either scared of pressure, or lack matchup knowledge. Sometimes both. Master rank players understand the RPS in more situations and will be caught guessing wrong, that's just how rps works. The tradeoff is that Master rank players also take fewer risks in general until they're absolutely convinced they're worth the consequences and believe the chance of success is likely. ...That said, no matter what rank you're in, some players just wanna press buttons.
Yuel's DP isn't the best, it has limited horizontal range. That said, it's still a fine dp. The reason high level players use it less is because of the risk associated with the option. You successfully DP - They lose maybe 1/14th of their life. They bait your dp (which is VERY easy to do with good pressure structure) - you lose usually 1/3rd of your life. Damage reward isn't the only comparison either. You also have to consider screen position and corner carry, resource use in some cases, and round/match number. High level players understand the risk/reward of their options and generally play for the most likely outcome, with some playstyle exceptions.

Fighting against Nier looks tiresome.

Do high level players just not use DP that much besides combo ending or is yuels DP plain ass?
