@@sarahkraus8247 I stand corrected but I got my information from a lecture on RUclips about the development of the keyboard from the Baroque to the 20th Century. So maybe that lecturer should stand corrected too.
Bach mostly played the clavichord and the harpsichord as well as the organ. Pianos were just starting to become a new trend in the 17th and 18th centuries. Bach thought piano-fortes (soft-loud) or forte-pianos (loud-soft) keyboard instruments were just a novelty. He died from a botched cataract surgery done by a complete fraud with no medical training at age 65 on July 28, 1750. Had he lived longer, he may have liked the new pianos since one can control the volume better on it than playing on a harpsichord, which has no volume control. Imagine the pieces of music he could have written with the piano.
Kraken1000 lol. At this point I feel like it must be a RUclips algorithm to dislike videos. Because unless there’s a person that knows nothing about music, there shouldn’t be any dislikes.🤔
Kraken1000 - it certainly wasn't me and I just gave it a thumbs up. I thoroughly enjoy this person's performances, especially in the morning with a cup of coffee. I mean, really, is there anything better for the mind than a dose of Bach?
What is your learning process for a new piece? How long does it take? Do you already have the second book learned and are waiting to upload them at the right time? Are you able to sight read through them without much difficulty? Are there sections of these preludes and fugues that have been really difficult to learn? At what age did you start learning Piano? Sorry, I have a lot of questions. You're skill and artistry at the Piano is remarkable and it inspires me to keep practicing every day! :)
I have been listening this thing every day now this week and I just CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT. IT is amazing. MY goal is to learn how to play this piece eventually. I can hardly play Fuer Elise as of now, so that will be a while. But I will get there if it's the last thing I do.
@@foxydragon5149 I'm guessing you're 11 right now. I'm 12, and I'm learning this piece, only the prelude, not the fugue. And also, what are you playing right now? It's been a year, so I'm curious.
Wonderful as always. Was wondering if you'd ever considered playing any of Ravel's solo piano works? He's quickly become one of my favorite composers. I know you've already covered Pavane pour une Infante Défunté, I'd love to see that same superb touch and wonderful clear camera work on some of my favorite pieces! Jeux d'eau and Miroirs are great, I adore the baroque-style suite Le Tombeau de Couperin, or even Gaspard de la Nuit. Honestly though anything you choose to play next I'll watch, I'm a big fan of the Bach, too. :-)
Owen Keith I second this but I think Gaspard de la Nuit may be asking too much from Paul here ( not to say he isn’t able to play those pieces but rather that they would take an awful long time to learn to a suitable degree ). More Ravel would certainly not go a miss though.
maybe one of the shorter pieces like la alborada del gracioso or, as you said, jeux d'eau. they do still take quite the time to learn, but gaspard de la nuit is just gargantuan in length (and difficulty)
Pieces from bach in general are good for beginners, since they are meant for pianists to learn good fingertechnique but since you can hear every mistake they are also the hardest to play. Theres a saying that if you can play bach then you can play anything :D
bach is great for every level i'd say. it's great for pianist with an already established and solid technique to maintain it, and brilliant to better your sightreading abilities
Love love his English suites. I just finished learning the prelude in a minor and it is hands down the most difficult piece I have ever learned. So worth the time and effort to learn it though!!!! Awe I just love Bach so much. Every note is in its right place and his music is perfectly symmetrical. You can really hear the symmetry in the English suite prelude a minor. This man has brought me out of the deepest depths of suicidal depression and fills my life with meaning while providing me with a reason to endure the struggles and pain of life.
I hope he keeps playing Bach. His playing is very clear and articulate.
Me too
Bach's clavier had 58 notes.
This piano has 88.
30 extra notes equals a Grand.
Bach doesn't need a Grand.
He is Grand.
Fresh upload.
Thanks.
Bach had 61 keys, from F1 to F6, which makes 12x5=60+the 1 extra F is 61 keys

Who was the nitwit who downvoted this thrilling piece? Beautifully played, Paul.

I mean even if you don't like those pieces just the fact how mandatory those are for getting good at the piano is not dislike worthy 😅
Classical music haters.....
Thrilling 💀😂
I'm learning this piece. Wish me luck.
Update: Okay, I have completely learned it, but I only finished the prelude because I'm not doing the fugue.
Hope you enjoy the music :)
@@Serenity5460 Yes, I do!
Same, I'm doing both the prelude and fugue for my grade 8.
Me too, im in grade. 7
Wonderful playing. I could hear main melody brightly. Thank you!

I'm looking forward to finally watch you play my favorite prelude and fugue of this book the one in A-flat Major! :'D
But *which* flat major??
Alexis Fonjallaz, they meant the key of A-Flat Major.

les inventions sont bien aussi pour ça, et généralement la plupart ds oeuvres de Bach demandent une bonne main gauche.

Wow this is fast
Fugue is same as bwv 902
BWV 902 is a fughetta. This is an expanded version of that fughetta-same initial theme, it just goes to more different places.

I feel a little bit of the classical period here for some reason
Yet it's a Baroque piece.
When you slow it down it’s creepy
