I knew this for a good time now but the worst part is that they could have missions that can only happen when that person is alive that could work but it would mean that rewards or let’s say you play on play station and you want all the trophies and one of them are completely all side quests means you have to do side quests when they come up or a complete new play throw which might be the reason why it’s like this
Or have branching side quests, say a side quest can be activated, but if that character dies, another character can take the quest marker and give you the mission instead, whether you havent started it or started it and then they die in a cutscene and then the other character takes it, or make it so if someome dies in the plot, the quest goes to a bounty board with an echolog of their quest giving dialouge
i've known and commented this to my best friend a long time ago. we came to the same conclusion that either after the character dies the mission becomes available in a board. but we also suggested the idea of missions that cant be completed afterwards, under the pretext that in all borderlands games there is at least 2 playthroughs you gotta do per character, if you failed to do them the first time around you would make sure to do them in the second. but this arises the problem of completionists, and people that want on level mission rewards so they leave them all unfinished until they are max level. i dont know
I’ve never noticed this and now I’m cursed forever 😭

To me, the bounty board / echo idea makes the most sense. But i dont hate the another character taking over idea either.
