The discontinued Fort Ord in the seventies had the best army food then because it had the cook school and catered to the Naval languages school in Monterey , California.
Airforce always had good food, 12yrs 11b in Army, anytime we got the chance that's where we would eat, Navy is a close second. Was on a few coasties boats, and like wise, us grunts, did our best with mre's and trail mix. To all that served, cheers, not matter what you mos
I used to work in the dining facility at McConnell 1987-1990, then went to work at the Air Capital Inn. Debra that spoke briefly worked there when my wife (civilian) and I worked there. It was great to see this.
I would love to get sponsored so that we could come and tour the base and dining facility. I left the dining facility just a few minutes before the big tornado April, 26, 1991. Emerald City was being built when I got out. So I've never been inside the building.
That sounds like a nice facility and one I would enjoy. The best food I ate while in the Air Force was at McChord AFB, and Scott AFB. I usually ended up eating breakfast, and midnight meals at Scott when passing through Illinois, and so many times at McChord when up there on TDY duty, or just passing through there on my time off. I was stationed at Norton AFB at the time and loved the food there also, but McChord and Scott had the best in my opinion.
How are Dining Facilities these days? I very respectfully ask because, I worked at Kirtland Air Force Base for 2 years now and customer flow has NOT been that high throughout 2017 and now.
" God bless you " All those years working on a ship feeding our service man no matter what branch they're in. When it's time for you to retire you know I don't I deserve that pension check they should give you a medal for a distinguished service it's not easy having to put up with all those guys and gals with all those different personalities sometimes early in the morning when The last thing they want to do is get out of bed and go off on some wet rainy flight deck or down in some noisy engine room to have to deal with,, when you're in a good mood and your boss's isN't,,,, I would hope you would be able to pull rank on that person and tell them you know what go stand in the corner till you get a better attitude,,,,,lol
Too bad this dining facility had been out of service since Feb 2015. Been in upgrade status ever since. Shame. Was relocated to a small section in the emerald city.
I worked in a dining facility at Lackland AFB while in boot camp, and in a food service facility at Lowry AFB while in tech school. The best meals at the time was breakfast where they served a nice breakfast, but you wanted to miss lunch, and dinner. In later years the Air Force hired chefs to teach their food service personnel how to cook properly, and the quality of their food improved so much until people looked forward to going to eat in.
Please help me for the purpose of volunteering in the armored forces because I have the goal of obtaining US citizenship and then completed my university studies to enter the officers' courses and become an officer in the US forces and if you have a call at the US Embassy in Baghdad to help me And if you help me this will be known I will not forget it all my life
I love seeing this but hope the Officers have even better accomodations they are our future leaders and cant be expected to eat with the lowly non coms
Utsusemi All airmen have to pay for the food somehow. Airmen living in the dorms have meal cards that come out of a monthly food allowance, and Airmen living in base housing or off-base pay out of pocket.

I could complain about a few things in the service but never the food. I never went hungry! God bless
When I was in the Boy Scouts we stopped and slept at McConnell AFB on our way to Philmont Scout Ranch. It was huge and the food was good.

Likewise. Tornado in April of 91 changed a handful of the dynamics but still. Good to see Debra G. She looks great.
Bad thing about midnight chow was that you had to be in uniform.
Awwwwww. Too bad, Skippy!
I agree and the navy base in ct even had an ice cream bar

Agreed. Sometimes when I was hungry around midnight, I'd
have to put on my fatigues to eat at the chow hall.
Navy has the best food. I was army Infantry and always loved eating at Navy chow halls. I mean there is a reason the Navy is the fattest branch
Amen brother

wonder how much all the services food bill cost the taxpayers.
Why are you concerned about what the taxpayers are paying to feed the servicemen and women to protect this great country ? get a life KIKO !!!!
Who cares! They deserve the best food possible and then some!
Not as much as the democrats spent trying to impeach trump ! Ha ha ha !trump 2020!
Remember while in the military you pay taxes also.
Why would you even ask a question like that?
